THE LEICESTER (CONSOLIDATION) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2006 (AMENDMENT) (BEDFORD STREET SOUTH & FREESCHOOL LANE) LEICESTER (No.378) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that The Leicester City Council HAS MADE an Order under Sections 1, 2, 32, 35, 45 & 46 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby mode the following Order:-
The effect of this Order is set out below and will be to amend the existing restrictions already in force on the streets listed below, by way of amendment to the Leicester (Consolidation) Traffic Regulation Order 2006:-
BEDFORD STREET SOUTH
1. Revoke temporary Taxi Rank Bay from 15 metres north-east of its junction with Charles Street to a point 34 metres north-east of its junction with Charles Street
2. Introduce 24 hour loading only bay from 15 metres north-east of its junction with Charles Street to 34 metres northeast of its junction with Charles Street
All other traffic restrictions on Bedford Street South remain unchanged
FREESCHOOL LANE
3. Revoke all existing restrictions on Freeschool Lane
4. Introduce Prohibition Of Entry And Driving, At All Times, All Motor Vehicles, (Exceptfor permit holders at any time and except for loading or unloading on Saturday 5am - 9am, Sunday to Friday 5am - 11am) from 65 metres north-east of its junction with Highcross Street to its eastern extremity
5. Introduce no waiting no loading restriction between midnight & 5am and between 9.00am & midnight on Saturday also between midnight & 5am and 11am & midnight Sunday to Friday from 65 metres north-east of its junction with Highcross Street to its eastern extremity North west side
6. Introduce no waiting no loading restriction from its junction with Highcross Street to 46 metres north-east of its junction with Highcross Street
7. Introduce loading only bay (All days 7.30am- 6pm) from 46- 60 metres north-east of its junction with Highcross Street
8. Introduce no waiting no loading restrictions from 60- 65 metres north-east of its junction with Highcross Street South west side
9. Introduce no waiting at any time restriction from its junction with Highcross Street to 23 metres east of its junction with Highcross Street
10. Introduce no waiting no loading from 23 - 65 metres east of its junction with Highcross Street
A COPY of the Order, the relevant plan, the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Orderand extract copies of the Order being amended may be seen at Leicester City Council-website: www.leicester.gov.uk/ trafficregulationorders or by calling 0116 454 1001, or email transport.strategy@leicester.gov.uk and requesting a paper copy to be sent via post.
If you wish to question the validity of the Order (which was made on the 2nd April 2025) or of any provisions contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from the 2nd April 2025 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
THIS ORDER WILL COME INTO FORCE ON 10th April 2025
