What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS FOOTPATHS IN STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the following lengths of footpath (“the Footpaths”):-

  1. the footpath situated on the south side of No.23 Ripon Road, Stevenage from a point in line with the western boundary of No.23 Ripon Road eastwards to its junction with Ripon Road, a distance of approximately 24m.

An alternative route will be via the footpath situated on the west side of No.21 Ripon Road, the footpath situated on the south side of Nos.1-21 Ripon Road and the footway situated on the west and south sides of Ripon Road.

  1. the footpath situated on the south, east and north sides of Nos.29-33 Ripon Road, Stevenage from a point in line with the western boundary of No.29 Ripon Road eastwards, northwards and westwards for a distance of approximately 77m.

There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  1. the footpath situated on the south side of Nos.55–67 Ripon Road, Stevenage from a point in line with the western boundary of No.67 Ripon Road eastwards for a distance of approximately 62m.

There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  1. the footpath situated on the east side of Nos.35–39 Ripon Road, Stevenage from a point in line with the northern boundary of No.35 Ripon Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 17m.

There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

5 the footpath situated between Nos.53 and No.55 Ripon Road, Stevenage from its junction with Ripon Road southwards for a distance of approximately 17m.

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the south and west sides of Ripon Road and the footpath situated on the south side of No.49 Ripon Road.

6. the footpath situated on the east side of Nos.2–6 Ripon Road, Stevenage from its junction with Ripon Road southwards for a distance of approximately 32m.

There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

7. the footpath situated on the north side of Nos.1–13 Canterbury Way, Stevenage from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.3 Canterbury Way westwards and eastwards for a distance of approximately 59m.

There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  1. the footpath situated between No.24 and No.29 Ripon Road, Stevenage from a point in line with the southern boundary of No.31 Canterbury Way southwards, eastwards, southwards, south westwards and southwards for a distance of approximately 102m.

    There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  2. the footpath situated between No.43 and No.45 Canterbury Way, Stevenage from a point in line with the southern boundary of No.120 Ripon Road southwards for a distance of approximately 30m.

    An alternative route will be via the footpath situated on the south side of No.120 Ripon Road, the footpath situated on the east side of Nos.45–53 Canterbury Way, the footpath situated on the south side of No.53 Canterbury Way and the footway situated on the east side of Canterbury Way.

    10. the footpath situated on the north side of Nos.295–305 Ripon Road, Stevenage from a point in line with the western boundary of No.295 Ripon Road south eastwards and westwards to a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.305 Ripon Road, a distance of approximately 50m.

    There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

    11. the footpath situated on the east side of Nos.261–271 Ripon Road, Stevenage from a point in line with the northern boundary of No.261 Ripon Road southwards, eastwards and southwards for a distance of approximately 54m.

    There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

    12. the footpath situated on the east side of No.305 Ripon Road, Stevenage from its junction with Ripon Road northwards and eastwards for a distance of approximately 64m.

    An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the west side of Ripon Road, the footpath situated on the east side of Ripon Road and the footpath situated on the west side of Nos.307–321 Ripon Road.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpaths.

    If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 21 April 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footpaths.

    (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF C5 (UNNAMED ROAD), RUSHDEN) ORDER 2025

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of C5 (unnamed road), Rushden from a point in line with the northern boundary of ‘Cedars’ south eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”), except for access.

    An alternative route will be via C5 (unnamed road), Redhill, Roe Green, Rushden Road, C10 (unnamed road), Sandon Road, Five House Lane to Whiteley Lane, Whiteley Lane, A10 (Ermine Street/unnamed road/Buntingford Bypass), A507 (Baldock Road/unnamed road) and C5 (unnamed road).

    The Order is needed because the replacement of an exiting utility pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.

    If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 23 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

    (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE TRACK SITUATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF A1072 MARTINS WAY, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cycles from using the cycle track situated on the south side of A1072 Martins Way, Stevenage from its junction with Almonds Lane north eastwards for a distance of approximately 1337m (“the Cycle Track”).

    An alternative route will be via the cycle track situated on the south side of A1072 Martins Way, the cycle track situated on the east side of A602 Hitchin Road, Franklins Road, the cycle track situated beneath A602 Lytton Way, the cycle track situated on the west side and beneath A602 Lytton Way, the cycle track situated on the east side and beneath A602 Lytton Way, the cycle track situated on the west side of A602 Lytton Way, the cycle track situated beneath the A602 Lytton Way/A1155 Fairlands Way roundabout, the cycle track situated on the north and north west sides of A1155 Fairlands Way and the cycle track situated on the west side of A1155 Verity Way.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Cycle Track.

    If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 21 April 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Cycle Track.

    (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN A1072 MARTINS WAY, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the eastbound carriageway of A1072 Martins Way, Stevenage from its junction with the Canterbury Way/Grace Way roundabout south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with the A1155 Verity Way/Pilgrims Way roundabout, a distance of approximately 989m (“the Road”), except for access.

    An alternative route will be via A1072 Martins Way, A602 (Hitchin Road/Lytton Way/High Street/James Way/Lytton Way) and A1155 (Fairlands Way/Verity Way).

    ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 7 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

    (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN HIGH STREET, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of road (“the lengths of Road”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Road whilst works are in progress:-

    1. that length of High Street, Stevenage from its junction with Letchmore Road north westwards to its junction with A602 James Way, a distance of approximately 522m.

      An alternative route will be via Letchmore Road, Sish Lane, Trinity Road, the Trinity Road/A602 Lytton Way roundabout and A602 (Lytton Way/High Street) or via A602 (James Way/Lytton Way), Trinity Road and High Street.

    2. that length of High Street, Stevenage from its junction with Trinity Road north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Letchmore Road, a distance of approximately 127m.

      An alternative route will be via Trinity Road, Sish Lane and Letchmore Road.

      The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the lengths of Road.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 7 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the lengths of Road.

      (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF STEVENAGE ROAD, ST IPPOLYTS) ORDER NO.2 2025

      NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Stevenage Road, St Ippolyts from a point 175m north east of its junction with B656 London Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 40m (“the Road”).

      An alternative route will be via Stevenage Road, Folly Lane, Sperberry Hill, B656 London Road and Stevenage Road.

      The Order is needed because electrical connection works are proposed to be executed near the Road.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 7 April 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

      (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A602 SIX HILLS WAY, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

      NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A602 Six Hills Way, Stevenage from its junction with the A602 Lytton Way/B197 London Road roundabout south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with the A1155 St Georges Way/A602 Monkswood Way roundabout, a distance of approximately 223m (“the Road”).

      An alternative route will be via A602 Lytton Way and A1155 (Fairlands Way/St Georges Way) or via A1070 Six Hills Way, A1072 Gunnels Wood Road and A602 (Broadhall Way/Monkswood Way).

      The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 7 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

      (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN HITCHIN ROAD/HIGH STREET AND PRESTON ROAD, GOSMORE) ORDER 2025

      NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Hitchin Road/High Street and Preston Road, Gosmore from its junction with Newlands Lane south eastwards, south westwards, south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Wain Wood Lane, a distance of approximately 2362m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.

      An alternative route will be via Gosmore Road, B656 London Road, B651 Whitwell Road, Hitchwood Lane, School Road and Hitchin Road.

      ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Roads whilst works are in progress.

      The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 7 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

      (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN MILL LANE, WESTON) ORDER 2025

      NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using that length of Mill Lane, Weston from its junction with Fore Street south eastwards to its junction with Maiden Street, a distance of approximately 256m (“the Road”).

      An alternative route will be via Fore Street and Maiden Street.

      ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

      The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 7 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

      (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A505 NIGHTINGALE ROAD, HITCHIN) ORDER 2025

      NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A505 Nightingale Road, Hitchin from its junction with the A505 Cambridge Road/B656 Walsworth Road roundabout north westwards for a distance of approximately 110m (“the Road”), except for access.

      An alternative route will be via B656 (Walsworth Road/Queen Street/Park Street/Hitchin Hill), A602 Park Way and A505 (Old Park Road/Bedford Road/Fishponds Road/Bunyan Road/Nightingale Road) or via A505 (Nightingale Road/Bunyan Road/Fishponds Road/Bedford Road/Paynes Park), A602 Park Way and B656 (Hitchin Hill/Park Street/Queen Street/Walsworth Road).

      The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 5 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
