What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 03 April 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6) & (7). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (8), (9), (10), (11), (12) & (13).

(1) FAWCETT STREET, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Fawcett Street, York between its junctions with Kent Street & Escrick Street (closed road) during the period when crane removal works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0500hrs on Sunday, 06 April 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Sunday, 06 April 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally left hand turns from Escrick Street into Fishergate will be prohibited (restricted manoeuvre) and the one–way direction of traffic flow on the southbound carriageway of Fishergate between the junction with Escrick Street and a location 63 metres south of said junction will be reversed for the works period only to maintain access to Escrick Street in a northerly direction and all on-street parking will be suspended in Fawcett Street and Fishergate (restricted roads) (i) on the western side of Fawcett Street between its junctions with Paragon Street and Kent Street and (ii) on the eastern side of Fishergate between the junction with Fawcett Street and a location 40 metres north of said junction. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Paragon Street, Barbican Road Cemetery Road, Fulford Road, Fishergate.

(2) TOWTHORPE ROAD, HAXBY

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Towthorpe Road, Haxby between its junctions with Landing Lane and West Nooks (closed road) during the period when water network works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Sunday, 06 April 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Monday, 07 April 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Strensall Road, A1237 York Outer Ring Road, Haxby Road, York Road, Station Road.

(3) TAMWORTH ROAD, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Tamworth Road, York between its roundabout controlled junction with Water Lane and a location 20 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when sewer maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Tuesday, 08 April 2025 and ending at 1430hrs on Tuesday, 08 April 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Arlington Road, Water Lane.

(4) FIELD LANE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Field Lane, York between its junction with School Lane and its roundabout controlled junction with Kimberlow Lane (closed road) during the period when highway surface dressing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Saturday, 12 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 04 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1600hrs for just two days of the works period (weather dependent). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via University Road, Green Dykes Lane, Hull Road.

(5) YORK ROAD & YORK STREET, DUNNINGTON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on York Road and York Street, Dunnington (i) on York Road between its junctions with A1079 Hull Road and York Street and (ii) on York Street between its junctions with York Road and Derwent Lane (closed roads) during the period when highway surface dressing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Saturday, 12 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 04 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1600hrs for just two days of the works period (weather dependent). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Common Road, A1079 Hull Road.

(6) STRENSALL ROAD, NORTH MOOR ROAD, NORTH LANE & HUNTINGTON ROAD, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Strensall Road, North Moor Road, North Lane & Huntington Road, York (i) on Strensall Road between its roundabout controlled junction with the A1237 York Outer Ring Road and its junction with North Moor Road and (ii) on North Moor Road between its junctions with Strensall Road and Huntington Road and (iii) on Huntington Road between its junction with North Moor Road and it’s roundabout controlled junction with Link Road and (iv) on North Lane between its junctions with North Moor Road and Chiltern Way (closed roads) during the period when highway surface dressing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Saturday, 12 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 04 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1600hrs for just two days of the works period (weather dependent). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via A1237 York Outer Ring Road, Haxby Road, Link Road.

(7) LEEMAN ROAD & KINGSLAND TERRACE (CONTINUATION), YORK

This Order continues in force The York (Leeman Road & Kingsland Terrace) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2025 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue the prohibition on vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of roads on Leeman Road & Kingsland Terrace, York.

(i) on Leeman Road between its junctions with Carlisle Street and Kingsland Terrace and (ii) on Kingsland Terrace between its junctions with Leeman Road and Garfield Terrace (closed roads) during the period commencing at 0601 hours on Monday, 07 April 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Monday, 05 May 2025 (works period) or on a date when highway maintenance works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Salisbury Road, Water End, Clifton, Bootham, Museum Street, Station Rise.

(8) WHELDRAKE LANE, CROCKEY HILL ROAD, MAIN STREET, CHURCH LANE & CHURCH LANE TO THE PARK, WHELDRAKE

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Wheldrake Lane, Crockey Hill Road, Main Street, Church Lane & Church Lane To The Park, Wheldrake (i) on Wheldrake Lane between its junctions with Crockey Hill Road and a location 171 metres west of the projected western boundary of the property called Woodridge and (ii) on Crockey Hill Road between its junctions with Wheldrake Lane and Main Street and (iii) on Main Street between its junctions with Crockey Hill Road and Church Lane and (iv) on Church Lane between its junctions with Main Street and Church Lane To The Park and (v) on Church Lane To The Park between its junction with Church Lane and a location 135 metres south of said junction (closed roads) during the period when highway surface dressing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Saturday, 12 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 04 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1600hrs for just two days of the works period (weather dependent). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Bonby Lane, Mill Hill, Wheldrake Lane.

(9) CORBAN LANE, SHIPTON

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Corban Lane, Shipton between its junctions with Plainville Lane and the entrance driveway to Newlands Farm (closed road) during the period when highway surface dressing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Saturday, 12 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 04 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1600hrs for just two days of the works period (weather dependent). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Wigginton Road, A1237 York outer Ring Road, A19 Shipton Road, East Lane.

(10) SHERIFF HUTTON ROAD & POTTERY LANE, STRENSALL

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Sheriff Hutton Road & Pottery Lane, Strensall (i) on Sheriff Hutton Road between its junction with The Village and the projected northern boundary of the property named Green Acres and (ii) on Pottery Lane between its junction with Sheriff Hutton Road and the projected eastern boundary of the property named Park House Farm (closed roads) during the period when highway surface dressing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Saturday, 12 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 04 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1600hrs for just two days of the works period (weather dependent). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Moxby Lane, Stillington Road, Main Street, York Road, Sutton Road, Wigginton Road, A1237 York Outer Ring Road, Strensall Road, Flaxton Road, The Village.

(11) WHARFE DRIVE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Wharfe Drive, York between its junction with Acorn Way and the projected south–western boundary of property no. 7 (closed road) during the period when sewer works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 14 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Monday, 14 April 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Acorn Way, Trent Way, Wains Road.

(12) FARNDALE STREET, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Farndale Street, York between the projected eastern boundary of property no. 61 and a location 43 metres north–west of said projected boundary (closed road) during the period when sewer works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 16 April 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Wednesday, 16 April 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(13) MALVERN AVENUE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Malvern Avenue, York between its junction with Boroughbridge Road and a location 5 metres south–west of said junction (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1230hrs on Thursday, 17 April 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 02 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Carr Lane, Glebe Avenue.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
