Herefordshire, Temporary Road Closures & Speed Restrictions Due To Resurfacing Works

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14(1)(A) and (7) THE A49 TRUNK ROAD (HOLMER TO LEOMINSTER) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Company Limited (Company no. 9346363) has made an Order on the A49 Trunk Road, between Holmer and Leominster, in the County of Herefordshire, to allow resurfacing works to be carried out. The effect of the Order will be to, at different times -
(1) impose a speed restriction of 40 miles per hour on the A49 from a point 102 metres north of its junction with Hedgerow Way, Hereford, to its roundabout junction with A44 Mill Street, at Leominster;
(2) close -
(a) the A49 between its roundabout junction with the A4103 Roman Road at Holmer, and its roundabout junction with A44 Mill Street, at Leominster; and
(b) any layby situated adjacent to the length of the A49 described in (a) above; and
(3) prohibit any vehicle from entering or leaving the length of trunk road described in (2)(a) above at its junction with any side road.
The work is expected to start on Thursday 10 April 2025 and continue for approximately four months. Overnight closures will be in operation between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours. The speed restriction will be in operation from 20:00 hours on Thursday 10 April 2025, for twenty-four hours per day, for the duration of the works. The layby closures will be in operation from 13:00 hours on Thursday 10 April 2025, for twenty-four hours per day, for the duration of the works. The Order will come into force on 7 April 2025. Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions, closures and prohibition. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restriction, and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures and prohibition. Access to properties will be maintained at all times. Diversion routes via the A438, the A4112, the A44, the A417 and the A4103 will be signed.
