Epsom and Ewell - Temporary Road Closures due to Footway and Maintenance Works

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2025
On 2 April 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice.
This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate footway reconstruction works and/or fine milling works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 7 April 2025.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route.
Schedule
1. The length of the south-east arm of D2412 Thorndon Gardens, Ewell as extends from its junction with Ravensfield Gardens south-westwards to the western property boundary of No.8.
Alternative Route – D2412 Thorndon Gardens;
2. The entire length of D2057 The Byway, Ewell.
Alternative Route – D2306 Newbury Gardens, D2420 Vale Road and D2444 Westways;
3. The entire length of D2052 Brumfield Road, West Ewell.
Alternative Route – D2160 Kendal Road, B284 Ruxley Lane and D2097 Cox Lane;
4. The length of D2170 Gadesden Road, West Ewell as extends from its junction with Scotts Farm Road to its junction with Vernon Close.
Alternative Route – D2170 Gadesden Road, D2010 Always Avenue and D2374 Scotts Farm Road.
