Banbury Road, Speed Limit Extension & Bus Stop Clearways Installation
What is happening?
OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(A361 BANBURY – CHIPPING NORTON RURAL AREA) (40 & 50 MPH SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 20**
NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.
The effect of the order – in response to adjacent residential development at land south of ‘Hit or Miss Farm’ – is to extend the existing 40mph speed limit on Banbury Road leading north-eastwards out of Chipping Norton, to a point 40 metres southwest of its junction with the A3400 roundabout, replacing the current 60mph speed limit in the process.
Additionally, two new Bus stop clearways (with associated ‘No Stopping except for Buses’ restrictions) will be located on either side of Banbury Road, approx. 100 metres southwest of the access to ‘Hit or Miss Farm’.
The Oxfordshire County Council A361 Banbury – Chipping Norton Rural Area) (40 & 50 Mph Speed Limits) Order 2020 will be revoked/replaced as necessary.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the end of 02 May 2025. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.
