(Off Street Parking Places) Order 2025

  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Portland Town Council has made the above-mentioned Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.

  2. When the Order comes into operation on 14 April 2025 the effect of the Order is to; add the restrictions to the car parks detailed below.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provisions contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any Instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order you may within six weeks of the date of this Notice apply to the High Court for that purpose.

Temporary Traffic Management Order of Monmouth Road, Dorchester

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Monmouth Road Dorchester for its entirety. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.

The works will commence on 10 April 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 22 April 2025. Works will take place between 0900 and 1600 and the road will be re-opened to traffic at night and at weekends.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out essential highway maintenance works.

The effect of the Order will be:

[1] To impose temporary road closure on Monmouth Road for its entirety.

[2] To impose temporary clearway on Monmouth Road for its entirety to prevent vehicles from stopping except those associated with the works.

Please note that any vehicle waiting in contravention of temporary parking restrictions may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. If a vehicle has been removed, the owner must contact the Council’s vehicle recovery contractor: Ashleywood Recovery Ltd/Bride Valley Recovery Ltd on 01305 889421.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Notice will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1000.
