Main Road - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(A6 MAIN ROAD, GALGATE, LANCASTER CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of A6 Main Road, Galgate from its junction with Salford Road to its junction with Hazelrigg Lane.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative daily between 2100 hours and 0600 hours from Monday 14th April 2025 until Thursday 24th April 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Works are weather dependent and may be carried out on any of the dates specified.
4. Vehicular access for residents and emergency service vehicles will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.

A6 Main Road – A6 Lancaster Road – A6 Lancaster New Road – B5272 Cockerham Road – B5272 Park Lane – B5272 Main Street – A588 Lancaster Road – A588 Main Road – A588 Lancaster Road – A588 Ashton Road – A6 Greaves Road – A6 Scotforth Road – A6 Preston Lancaster Road – A6 Main Road Galgate and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out.
