What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Carlton Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Carlton Road, which will be closed from the gable end of the Life Style Express store to the dividing line of property Nos.8/8A. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route is not required due to Carlton Road being a cul-de-sac. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 09/04/2025 effective from 07/04/2025. Purpose – to facilitate access for water main repairs by South Staffs Water.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Bradley Street, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Bradley Street, which will be closed at the junction of Burnt Tree. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Burnt Tree, New Birmingahm Road, Tividale Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 09/04/2025 effective from 08/04/2025 (7pm - 6am). Purpose – to facilitate access to repair/replace a defective manhole frame and cover by Severn Trent Water.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Richmond Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Richmond Road, which will be closed on 05/04/2025 from its junction with Bearwood Road to the dividing line of property Nos. 13 & 15. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Bearwood Road, Dunsford Road, Merrivale Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 05/04//2025 (9:30am - 3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for maintenance works by Ericsson. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Thynne Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure, One-Way Suspension) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Thynne Street, which will be closed from its junction with High Street for approximately 35 metres on 07/04/2025 to 10/04/2025. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. The one-way system at Thynne Street will be suspended for the duration of the Thynne Street road closure to allow access and egress for residents and businesses on Thynne Street onto Beeches Road. Traffic will be diverted via High Street, Bagnall Street and Beeches Road for access to Thynne Street. Traffic will be diverted for the Thynne Street closure via Beeches Road and Hope Street for egress from Thynne Street. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 10/04/2025 effective from 07/04/2025 (8am - 6pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for remedial works by Cadent Gas Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (St James Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along St James Road, which will be closed from the dividing line of property Nos. 24 & 26 to the western boundary of property No.34. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Bury Hill Road, Dingle Street, Brades Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be commence and be completed on 09/04/2025 (9:30am - 3:30pm). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Navigation Close, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) and (Birmingham Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Central Reservation Gap Closure) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Navigation Close from the junction of Birmingham Road to the northern side of the M5 Viaduct and temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding via a right turn from Birmingham Road to Navigation Close. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route will not be required for the closure of Navigation Close due to it being a cul-de-sac. A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Birmingham Road central reservation gap closure via Birmingham Road (westbound), Oldbury Ringway (westbound) to the roundabout at the junction of Halesowen Street, Oldbury Ringway (eastbound) and Birmingham Road (eastbound). The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 10/04/2025 (6am) effective from 09/04/2025 (9pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for structural inspection of the M5 bridge over Birmingham Road by National Highways.
