What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (STITCH LANE, HEATON NORRIS) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport had on 25 March 2025 made an Experimental Traffic Order under Sections 9, 10 Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be to introduce an Experimental No Waiting at Any Time at Stitch Lane, (Southern Part) North West side from a point 11 metres South West of the South Western kerb-line of Wellington Road North for a distance of 12 metres in a South Westerly direction then North Westerly direction for a distance of 87 metres. Stitch Lane (Northern Part) East side from a point 21 metres South of the South Western kerb-line of Wellington Road North is a Southerly direction for a distance of 104 metres and to tie-in with
the aforementioned.

The order came into force on 26 March 2025 and will operate for a period of up to eighteen months and the Council will be considering in due course whether its provisions should continue in force indefinitely.

If you wish to object to the provisions of the order being established on a permanent basis, you should send your objection in writing to the undersigned within 6 months of the 2 April 2025 quoting reference ZA/7695245.

If you wish to question the validity of the order or if any provisions in it on the grounds that they are not within the powers confirmed by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the order you may, within six weeks from the 2 April 2025 apply for the purpose to the High Court.
