What is happening?

IPSWICH BOROUGH COUNCIL

(OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Ipswich Borough Council has made the above Order under Sections 32, 35 and 35A and Schedule 9 (Part IV) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Local Authority Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996 and all other enabling powers. The general nature and effect of this Order is to amend the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 (as amended) by:

  • inserting a £12 tariff for stays in excess of 5 hours at the Crown parking place (Charles Street, Ipswich), where the vehicle exits by 08:00 on the next day and increasing the maximum stay to 24 hours (this does not affect the validity of the £2.70 after 2pm special offer Monday to Friday) and inserting the sale of season tickets at the same parking place as 12 months (valid Monday to Friday) = £1,403 and 12 months (valid all week) = £1,485;

  • changing the ‘£2.50 after 2pm’ (Monday – Friday) promotional offer to ‘£2.70 after 2pm’ (Monday – Friday); and

  • varying the charges that apply at the following parking places within the Borough of Ipswich (with no changes to any other parking places listed within the relevant Schedules):

    • 08:00 – 23:30 at Crown car park.

    The Order was made on 26?? March 2025 and will come into effect on 31?? March 2025. A copy of the Order and other applicable documents can be viewed on the Council’s website at: www.ipswich.gov.uk/services/parking

    They may also be viewed free of charge at the Council’s offices at Grafton House, 15–17 Russell Road, Ipswich, IP1 2DE between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

    If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made apply for the purpose to the High Court.
