Norfolk - Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Maintenance & Utility Works
What is happening?
GREAT MOULTON – Frosts Lane from its junction with Frith Way for 150m northwards to facilitate installation of a new water connection from 31st March to 2nd April 2025 (may continue until 14th May 2025). Alternative route is via: Frosts Lane, Carr Lane, Frith Way. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
GRESSENHALL – Park Farm Lane from 358m east of its junction with C242 Longham Road for 150m eastwards to facilitate BT pole testing works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 2nd April 2025 (may continue until 14th May 2025). Alternative route is via: 35193/35211 Church Lane, C225 Dereham Road/Bridge Street/The Green, C222 Litcham Road, 35117 Hoe Road/Chapel Road, C242 Dereham Low Road/Longham Road and vice versa (Longham, Gressenhall). The works promoter is BT.
HETHERSETT – C182 Colney Lane from its junction with B1172 Norwich Road for 300m northwards to facilitate junction remodelling works from 31st March to 9th June 2025 (may continue until 9th December 2025). Alternative route is via: Norwich Road, Colney Lane, Hethersett Lane, Watton Road, A47, A11, B1172 Norwich Road (Colney, Little Melton, Cringleford, Hethersett, Ketteringham). The works promoter is Breheny Civil Engineering Ltd.
LEXHAM – C238 Road from Lynn Road to Lexham Road from its junction with U35168 Brick Kiln Lane to its junction with C239 Lexham Road to facilitate carriageway patching works from 31st March to 4th April 2025 (may continue until 16th May 2025). Alternative route is via: C239 Lexham Road, B1145 Lynn Road and vice versa (Litcham, Lexham). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
MERTON – Broomhill Lane from its junction with Low Common Lane for 200m westwards to facilitate works to rebuild missing headwall from 31st March to 3rd April 2025 (may continue until 15th May 2025). Alternative route is via: Road from Thetford Road to Walton Road, Thetford Road, Low Common Lane (Watton, Thompson, Merton). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NORTH LOPHAM – High Common Road from 560m west of its junction with Church Road for 150m westwards to facilitate replacement works for chamber cover and frame from 2nd to 4th April 2025 (may continue until 16th May 2025). Alternative route is via: High Common Road, Church Road, The Green, The Street, Thetford Road (South Lopham, North Lopham). The works promoter is Anglian Water.
ROCKLAND ST. MARY WITH HELLINGTON – C202 New Inn Hill from its junction with U71702 Eel Catcher Close for 410m south-eastwards to facilitate new fibre network installation works from 31st March to 4th April 2025 (may continue until 16th May 2025). Alternative route is via: C202 New Inn Hill/Lower Road/Claxton Corner/Ferry Road, Langley Road/Norwich Road/Langley Green/Staithe Road Langley Road/C554 Norwich Road, A146 Loddon Bypass/Loddon Road, C202 Kirby Road/Rockland Road/Bramerton Lane/Rookery Hill The Street (Framingham Pigot, Claxton, Rockland St. Mary, Chedgrave, Langley, Langley Green, Kirby Bedon, Yelverton, Langley with Hardley, Hellington, Bramerton, Ashby St. Mary, Thurton, Caister St. Edmund and Bixley, Holverston, Carleton St. Peter). ROCKLANDS – 1) C135 Mill Lane from 528m east of its junction with C135/U33034 The Street for 265m eastwards and 2) C158 Rocklands Road from its junction with C135/U31575 Mill Lane for 35m southwards to facilitate pole test works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 3rd April 2025 (may continue until 15th May 2025). Alternative route is via: C158 Rocklands Road/Mount Pleasant/Rocklands Road, C138/B1111 Watton Road, C130 Rockland Road/Brayes Lane, B1077 Brayes Lane, U33034 Magpie Lane/The Street, C135 Mill Lane and vice versa (Shropham, Rocklands, Stow Bedon and Breckles). The works promoter is BT.
SURLINGHAM – U78016 New Road from its junction with U78016 Pound Lane for 135m northwards to facilitate new fibre network installation works from 31st March to 4th April 2025 (may continue until 16th May 2025). Alternative route is via: New Road, Pond Lane, School Lane, Walnut Hill, Pratts Hill, New Road. The works promoter is CityFibre Metro Networks Ltd.
SWAINSTHORPE – Swainsthorpe BOAT 6 from its junction with U76476 C Hickling Lane for 100m westwards and 2) for 100m westwards to facilitate cable laying works from 1st to 12th April 2025 (may continue until 24th May 2025). Alternative route is via: Swainsthorpe BOAT 6, Swainsthorpe BOAT 6, Swainsthorpe BR9 (Swainsthorpe, Mulbarton, Stoke Holy Cross, Swardeston). The works promoter is Powersystems UK Ltd.
THETFORD – Thistle Close to End Footpath (for its entirety) from its junction with Thistle Close to its junction with Kilverstone BR2 to facilitate utility repair works from 30th March to 2nd April 2025 (may continue until 14th May 2025).
Alternative route is via: Green Lane, Colstfoot Way, Mallow Road, Thistle Close. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
WATTON – 1) 3F620 Footpath Between 10 and 11 Fleming Court to Jubilee Road from its junction with U31939 Fleming Court to its junction with U3112 Jubilee Road; and 2) 3F619 Footpath fronting 6 and 7 Coburg Close from its junction with U31402 Coburg Close to its junction with 3F620 Footpath between 10 and 11 Fleming Court to Jubilee Road to facilitate Anglian Water exchange works between 08:00 and 18:00 on the 1st April 2025 (may continue until 15th May 2025).

WYMONDHAM – U78070 Morley Lane from its junction with B1172 London Road for 150m westwards to facilitate pole testing between 09:30 and 15:30 on 2nd April 2025 (may continue until 14th May 2025).

WYMONDHAM – U78314 Silfield Road from its junction with U78305 Green Lane for 183m southwards to facilitate gas pipe upgrade works from 31st March to 9th May 2025 (may continue until 19th November 2025).

WYMONDHAM – B1172 Norwich Road from its junction with C1135 Tuttles Lane East for 2850m north eastwards to facilitate patching works between 19:00 and 06:00 from 31st March to 2nd April 2025 (may continue until 14th May 2025).
Alternative route is via: Norwich Road, Norwich Common, Ketts Oak, A11, B1135 Tuttles Lane East (Cringleford, Hethersett, Wymondham, Ketteringham).

CASTLE RISING – Hillington Road from its junction with A148/A149 Roundabout to its junction with Station Road to facilitate jetting works. The road will be temporarily subject to a 30mph speed restriction between 19:30 and 06:00 from 3rd to 8th April 2025 (may continue until 20th May 2025). Alternative route is via: N/A. DOCKING – Pound Lane from 25m east of its junction with Station Road for 100m eastwards to facilitate pole testing works on 3rd April 2025 (may continue until 15th May 2025). The road will be temporarily subject to a 30mph speed restriction from 19:30 on 31st March to 06:00 on the 1st April 2025 (may continue until 13th May 2025). Alternative route is via: N/A. HOLME-NEXT-THE-SEA – Thornham Road from its junction with Chalk Pit Road to its junction with Staithe Lane to facilitate Norfolk County Council water jetting works between 19:30 and 06:00 from 1st to 3rd April 2025 (may continue until 15th May 2025).

MARSHLAND ST. JAMES – Middle Drove from 1000m north of its junction with School Road for 60m northwards to facilitate works to access underground chamber from 1st to 18th April 2025 (may continue until 30th May 2025).

NORTHWOLD AND WHITTINGTON – Methwold Road from its junction with Thetford Road for 170m southwards to facilitate UK Power Network works for a new connection. The road will be temporarily subject to a 30mph speed restriction from 2nd to 4th April 2025 (may continue until 16th May 2025).

NORTHWOLD AND WHITTINGTON – Methwold Road from its junction with Thetford Road for 170m southwards to facilitate works for a new connection from 4th to 11th April 2025 (may continue until 23rd May 2025).
Alternative route is via: Methwold Road, Northwold Road, Stoke Road, Main Road, Whittington Hill, Thetford Road (Methwold, Northwold). The works promoter is UK Power Network.
ROYDON – Low Road from its junction with Station Road for 40m eastwards to facilitate Anglian Water sewer lining works between 08:00 and 17:00 from 31st March to 11th April 2025 (may continue until 23rd May 2025).
Alternative route is via: Station Road, Lynn Road, Low Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
TERRINGTON ST. JOHN – School Road from its junction with Hotch Lane for 20m southwards to facilitate Anglian Water installation of wash out from 4th to 8th April 2025 (may continue until 20th May 2025).
Alternative route is via: School Road, Low Road, St. Johns Road, Church Road, Main Road (Terrington St. John, Marshland St. James, Tilney St. Lawrence). The works promoter is Anglian Water.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event an anticipated start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road. Access will be maintained where possible and the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required.
The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months for vehicular highway or 6 months for non-vehicular highway.
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
