Hewitt Street - Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic For Utility Asset Maintenance

Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Section 14 (As Amended)
Notice is hereby given that the City Council intends, in not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s): ORDER NO. MCC142194981: The City of Manchester (Hewitt Street, Deansgate Ward) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic & Suspension of Bus Lane) Order 2025 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Hewitt Street at the junction with Albion Street & suspend the bus lane on Whitworth Street West.
The alternative routes for traffic will be: Albion Street, Whitworth Street West, Rowendale Street & Albion Street, Little Peter Street, Deansgate.
The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate utility asset maintenance.
It is expected that the works will be in progress on 15th April 2025 between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30. The order shall come into operation on 15th April 2025 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months.
If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
