What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A28 Ashford Road, Chartham, CT4 7PA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A28 Ashford Road, Chartham, from 7th April 2025, with estimated completion by 12th April 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Shalmsford Street and Nickle Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A28 Ashford Road, Thanington Road, Wincheap, Wincheap Green, A2050 Rheims Way, Harbledown By Pass, Harbledown on slip, A2 Dover Road, Boughton By Pass, A2 London Road, Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road, A252 The Street, Maidstone Road, A28 Canterbury Road, A28 Ashford Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
A299 Thanet Way Slip Way, Whitstable, CT5 3BL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow ducting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A299 Thanet Way Slip Way, Whitstable, from 7th April 2025, with estimated completion by 12th April 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with A299 Thanet Way and A291 Canterbury Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A299 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road and A2990 Thanet Way.
A299 Thanet Way Slip Way & A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable. (TEMPORARY 40 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow Section 278 works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 40 mph speed restriction on part of A299 Thanet Way Slip Way & A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable, from 12th April 2025, with estimated completion by 12th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The 40 mph speed restriction will be imposed on A299 Thanet Way Slip Way & A2990 Thanet Way between the junctions with A299 Thanet Way and Speedwell Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
B2205 High Street & Beach Street, Herne Bay. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY ORDER) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow sewer cleaning works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2205 High Street & Beach Street, Herne Bay, from 6th April 2025, with estimated completion by 21st April 2025, or until the works have been completed.
B2205 High Street
The road will be closed 50m either side of the junction with Beach Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2205 High Street, Avenue Road, Sea Street, Greenhill Bridge Road, A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, High Street and vice versa.
Beach Street
The road will be closed 50m either side of the junction with B2205 High Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for the closure (between Hanover Street and B2205 High Street) is via Hanover Street, Richmond Road then follow B2205 High Street diversion route.
The alternative route for the closure (between Mortimer Street and B2205 High Street) is via Mortimer Street, Richmond Street then follow B2205 High Street diversion route.
The One-Way Order on Beach Street, will be temporarily suspended between the junctions with Hanover Street and Mortimer Street.
Greenhills, Barham, CT4 6PN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow rail bridge works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Greenhills, Barham, from 22nd April 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Greenhills, Valley Road, Railway Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Grove Road, Wickhambreaux, CT3 4BH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Road, Wickhambreaux, from 23rd April 2025, with estimated completion by 29th April 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Chapel Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 High Street, Canterbury Road, Wingham Road, High Street, Nargate Street, Wickham Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Manns Hill, Bossingham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Manns Hill, Bossingham, from 22nd April 2025, with estimated completion by 23rd April 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed approximately 150m East of Midwinter Lodge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Manns Hill, Pett Bottom Road, Fryarne Park, Bossingham Road, The Street, Manns Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Radfall Hill, Chestfield, CT5 3EP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Radfall Hill, Chestfield, from 24th April 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite Oaklands, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Radfall Hill, Chestfield Road, A2990 Thanet Way, A290 Clapham Hill, Pean Hill, Honey Hill, Blean Common, Blean Hill, Tile Kiln Hill, Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, Forty Acres Road, Beaconsfield Road, St Stephen’s Hill, Canterbury Hill, Wood Hill, Hackington Road, Radfall Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Shalloak Road, Broad Oak, CT2 0PR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow remedial works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalloak Road, Broad Oak, from 9th April 2025, with estimated completion by 11th April 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 19:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the train line, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Vauxhall Road, A28 Sturry Road, Mill Road, A291 Sturry Hill, Herne Bay Road, Sweechgate and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Street, Petham, CT4 5QY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow customer service works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Street, Petham, from 22nd April 2025, with estimated completion by 25th April 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Highbank, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, Duckpit Road, Gogway, B2068 Stone Street, Town Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Whitehall Road, Harbledown, CT2 8BG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Whitehall Road, Harbledown, from 21st April 2025, with estimated completion by 7th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the Toddlers Cove Car Park, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Westbound Slip Onto A299 From Wraik Hill Roundabout, Whitstable, CT5 3DW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow street light repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Westbound Slip Onto A299 From Wraik Hill Roundabout, Whitstable, from 21:00 hours on 23rd April 2025, with estimated completion by 04:00 hours on 24th April 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A290 Clapham Hill, A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
