NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B656 Queen Street, Hitchin from its junction with Biggin Lane north eastwards to its junction with Hermitage Road, a distance of approximately 252m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via B656 (Queen Street/Park Street/Hitchin Hill), A602 Park Way, A505 (Old Park Road/Bedford Road/Fishponds Road/Bunyan Road/Nightingale Road) and B656 (Walsworth Road/Queen Street) or via B656 (Queen Street/Walsworth Road), A505 (Nightingale Road/Bunyan Road/Fishponds Road/Bedford Road/Paynes Park), A602 Park Way and B656 (Hitchin Hill/Park Street/Queen Street).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using that length of East Street/Hexton Road, Lilley from its junction with West Street north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Lilley Public Bridleway and Public Footpath No.013, a distance of approximately 1010m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via West Street, Lilley Bottom, Hollybush Hill, Luton Road, Offley Hill, C134 (unnamed road), A505 (Offley Bypass/Moormead Hill/Offley Road), B655 (Pirton Road/Hexton Road/Hitchin Road/Barton Road), Lilley Road and Hexton Road or via Hexton Road, Lilley Road, B655 (Barton Road/Hitchin Road/Hexton Road/Pirton Road), A505 (Offley Road/Moormead Hill/Offley Bypass), Offley Hill, Luton Road, Hollybush Hill, Lilley Bottom and West Street.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Shephall Green, Stevenage from a point 29m south east of its easternmost junction with Hydean Way south eastwards for a distance of approximately 25m (“the Road”), except for access.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the following lengths of footpath (“the Footpaths”):

  1. the footpath fronting Nos.11-21 Nightingale Walk, Stevenage from its northernmost junction with Nightingale Walk south eastwards for a distance of approximately 43m.

    An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north east side of Nightingale Walk, the footway situated on the south east side of Pankhurst Crescent, the footway situated on the south west side of Cavell Walk, the footpath fronting Nos.12-22 Cavell Walk, the footway situated on the south west side of Cavell Walk, the footway situated on the north side of Pankhurst Crescent and the footway situated on the north east side of Nightingale Walk.

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Monks Close, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Icknield Way north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Chalk Hill, Cockernhoe from its junction with Lilley Bottom south westwards, south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Luton Road, a distance of approximately 1734m (“the Road”), except for access.

    (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE TRACK SITUATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF COREYS MILL LANE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cycles from using the cycle track situated on the south side of Coreys Mill Lane, Stevenage from a point 70m south east of its junction with The Old Walled Garden north westwards for a distance of approximately 221m (“the Cycle Track”).

    Pedal Cyclists will need to dismount and use the adjacent footway.

        NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) and footway (“the Footway”) will be:–

        1. To prohibit all traffic from using the following lengths of Roads, except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads, whilst works are in progress:–

          a) that length of Icknield Way, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Cowslip Hill north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Norton Way North, a distance of approximately 675m.

          An alternative route will be via Bridge Road, Station Place, Station Road and Norton Way North.

        b) that length of Highfield, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Sollershott West north westwards to its junction with West View, a distance of approximately 390m.

        An alternative route will be via Sollershott West, Spring Road and West View.

        c) that length of Icknield Way, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Norton Way North south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with the Green Lane roundabout, a distance of approximately 1026m.

        An alternative route will be via Norton Way North, Birds Hill, Works Road and Green Lane.

        d) that length of Deards End Lane, Knebworth from its junction with Park Lane north eastwards to its junction with B197 Stevenage Road, a distance of approximately 701m.

        An alternative route will be via Park Lane, Station Approach, Station Road and B197 Stevenage Road.

        e) that length of B1039 Chiswell Road, Barley from its junction with B1039 Picknage Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 508m.

        An alternative route will be via B1039 Picknage Road, B1368 Cambridge Road, New Road, Heydon Road and B1039 (Barley Road/Chishill Road).

        f) that length of Church Lane, Graveley from its junction with B197 High Street south eastwards, north eastwards, south westwards, north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 448m.

        An alternative route will be via B197 (High Street/Jacks Hill), Lannock Hill, Hitchin Road, Damask Green Road, Weston Road, Back Lane and Church Lane.

        g) the road leading to ‘St Marys Church’, Graveley from its junction with Church Lane south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 40m.

        There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

        h) that length of New Inn Road, Hinxworth from its junction with High Street south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Hinxworth Public Footpath No.008, a distance of approximately 285m.

        An alternative route will be via High Street, Ashwell Road, Hinxworth Road, Newnham Way, Ashwell Road, Newnham Road, A507 Great North Road, A1 (unnamed road/London Road), the A1 London Road roundabout, A1 (London Road/unnamed road), Hinxworth Road and New Inn Road or via High Street, Edworth (unnamed road), Edworth Road, A1 (unnamed road/London Road), the A1 London Road roundabout, A1 (London Road/unnamed road), Hinxworth Road and New Inn Road.

        1. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the footway situated on the north side of Webb Rise, Stevenage from a point 70 metres east of its junction with Meredith Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 10m.

          An alternative route will be via the footpath situated on the east side of No.26 Webb Rise and the footpath fronting Nos.46–96 Webb Rise.

        The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads and Footway.

              2. To prohibit all subway users from using the subway situated beneath A602 Broadhall Way, Stevenage from a point 5m north west of a point in line with the northern boundary of No.62 Mandeville north westwards for a distance of approximately 21m (“the Subway”).

                An alternative route will be via the subway situated beneath A602 Broadhall Way and the cycle track/footway situated on the west side of A602 Broadhall Way.

              The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road and Subway.

              The Order has been made and shall come into force on 1 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road and Subway.

              THE HERTFORDSHIRE (ASHANGER LANE AND BARLEY MOW LANE, CLOTHALL) (30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2024

              NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce a 30 mph speed limit restriction on parts of Ashanger Lane and Barley Mow Lane, Clothall as specified in the Schedule to this Notice. The Order will come into effect on Friday 28 March 2025.

              Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be viewed from 27 March 2025 to 8 May 2025 during office hours at Main Reception, County Hall, Hertford or online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting North Herts and looking at Ref: NH00924.
