TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Tyneside Council intends to make an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit driving on the following sections of road:- Grant St, Jarrow, from its junction with Edith St, in an easterly direction, for a distance of 40m. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable Compass Developments to excavate and repair
drainage/sewer. The Order will come into force on the 10/4/25. The maximum duration of the prohibition under this Order will be 18 mths however it is anticipated that the prohibition will only be needed from 14/4/25 for 8 days. All vehicles except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the road described above for the duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be via Grant St, Edith St, Rear Of Albert Rd, Caroline St & Railway St.
