Various Roads in Shalford
(30 mph Speed Limit) and (20 mph Speed Limit Zone) Order 2025

1. On 27 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above named Order, under Sections 81, 82 and 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 “the Act” (as amended) and all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to:-

(a) impose a 30mph speed limit in the length of road specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice;

(b) impose a 20mph speed limit, which will be signed as a 20mph Zone, in the lengths of roads specified and described in Schedule 2 to this Notice;

(c) revoke “The Surrey County Council Broadford Road (A248) Shalford (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2005 in its entirety;

(d) carry out legal drafting amendments to “The County Council of Surrey (Various Roads in Albury Christmaspie and Wanborough Compton Ripley Send Shalford Shere West Clandon West Horsley Wood Street Village and Worplesdon) (Restricted Roads) Order 1987” so as to omit Highfield, Northfield, Oaklands Close and Tannersfield;

(e) carry out legal drafting amendments to “The Surrey County Council Kings Road (A248) and Christmas Hill (A248) in the Parish of Shalford in the borough of Guildford (30 mph and 40 mph Speed Limits and Amendment) Order 2023” and The Road Traffic Act, 1934 (Directions under paragraph (b) of sub-section (4) of Section 1) (No.2) Order, 1936 insofar as it relates to A248 Kings Road as specified and described in part 3 of Schedule 2 to this Notice; and

(f) revoke previous Orders made or having effect as if made under Sections 81, 82, 83 and 84 of the Act imposing any speed limit on the lengths of roads specified and described in part 4, 8 and 14 of Schedule 2 to this Notice.

2. The 20mph speed limit zone and the 30mph speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011.

3. A copy of the made Order, which will come into operation on 31 March 2025, a plan showing the lengths of roads to which the Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may be viewed on-line at https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/policies-plans-consultations/roads-and-transport-consultations

(a) Guildford Library, 77 North Street, Guildford, GU1 4AL;

(b) Bramley Community Library, High Street, Bramley, GU5 0HG;

(c) at the Main Reception, Guildford Borough Council, Millmead House, Millmead, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 4BB during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive; or

(d) by prior arrangement by telephoning or emailing the County Council’s Merrow Complex, situated at Merrow Lane, Merrow, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Thursdays inclusive and 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on Fridays.

Schedule 1 (30mph Speed Limit)
1. the entire length of A248 Broadford Road, Shalford.

Schedule 2 (20mph Zone)
1. A281 Horsham Road, Shalford – that length of which extends from a point 32m south of its junction with the circulatory carriageway comprised within the roundabout situated at or adjacent to the junctions of A281 Horsham Road and A248 Kings Road to its junction with the northern arm of D208 Kings Road;

2. A281 The Street, Shalford – that length of which extends from its junction with the northern arm of D208 Kings Road and a point 14m south of the centre of Tillingbourne Bridge (A281/1);

3. A248 Kings Road, Shalford – that length of which extends from its junction with the circulatory carriageway comprised within the roundabout situated at or adjacent to the junctions of A248 Kings Road and A281 Horsham Road to a point 50m east of the eastern side of that part of X248 Christmas Hill leading to and from the properties presently known as Nos 1 and 2 Milkwood and Nos.3 and 4 Milkwood Christmas Hill;

4. D208 Chinthurst Lane, Shalford – that length of which extends from its junction with A248 Kings Road to the southern property boundary line of the property known as “Farriers”;

5. D643 Ashcroft, Shalford – its entire length;

6. D619 Poplar Road, Shalford – its entire length;

7. D628 Oaklands Close, Shalford – its entire length;

8. D628 Summersbury Drive, Shalford – its entire length;

9. D628 Northfield, Shalford – its entire length;

10. D628 Tannersfield, Shalford – its entire length;

11. D628 Highfield, Shalford – its entire length;

12. D890 Chinthurst Park, Shalford – its entire length;

13. D206 Dagden Road, Shalford – its entire length;

14. D206 Orchard Road, Shalford – its entire length;

15. D206 Tillingbourne Road, Shalford – its entire length;

16. D208 Kings Road, Shalford – its entire length;

17. D207 Station Road, Shalford – its entire length;

18. D207 Weald Close, Shalford – its entire length;

19. D207 Mitchells Close, Shalford – its entire length;

20. D207 Atherton Close, Shalford – its entire length.
