What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

 

FOLKESTONE & HYTHE AREA

 

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, DISTRICT OF FOLKESTONE & HYTHE)
(VARIOUS TRAFFIC MOVEMENTS) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER
(AMENDMENT No.1) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3, 4, 19, 65(1), 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic regulation Act 1984 (‘the Act’) as amended and of all other enabling powers, and having regard to Section 122 of the Act and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to

the Act, hereby make the following order:-

The effect of the Order would be place a 7.5T weight limit except for Buses and for access, change a section of Middelburg Square from one way to two way traffic, place a bus gate and lane on Cheriton Road and Middelburg Square and close up a section of Foresters Way remove the bus restriction and make one way for all traffic due to the new road layout on the following length of roads in Folkestone:-

CHERITON PLACE – Place a weight limit from its junction with Sandgate Road to its junction with Middelburg Square. CHERITON ROAD – (1) Place a weight limit from its junction with Shorncliffe Road to its junction with Castle Hill Avenue. (2) On the south side place a bus lane from its junction with Millfield to its junction with Middelburg Square. FORESTERS WAY – (1) Close up the north east carriageway to traffic due to the new road layout. (2) Remove the Bus Only restriction and make it one way for all traffic due to the new road layout. MIDDELBURG SQUARE – (1) At its junction with Cheriton Gardens to its with Foresters Way change from one way traffic in a north easterly direction to two way traffic. (2) Place a bus gate for bus access only at the junction with Foresters Way.

The Order was made on 3 April 2025 and its provisions will come into effect on 8 April 2025.

Anyone may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks of the date of publication of this Notice, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.

(CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2020 (AMENDMENT No.9) ORDER 2025

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council hereby proposes to make the above-named Order under Sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which would be to: -

The effect of the order would be to introduce a 20MPH speed limit on the following lengths of roads in Sandgate, Folkestone and Hythe:-

CASTLE ROAD, GOUGH ROAD, GRANVILLE PARADE, GRANVILLE ROAD EAST, GRANVILLE ROAD EAST, GRANVILLE ROAD WEST, HILLSIDE, LACHLAN WAY, PARADE ROAD, THE CRESCENT, WILBERFORCE ROAD - For their entire lengths. MILITARY ROAD - From its junction with Sandgate High Street for a distance of 50 metres in a northerly direction. SANDGATE HIGH STREET – From a point 30 metres east of its junction with Lachlan Way for a distance of 635 metres in a westerly direction. THE UNDERCLIFF – From its junction with Sandgate High Street for a distance of 277 metres in a northerly direction.

MAIDSTONE AREA

(VARIOUS TRAFFIC MOVEMENTS) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER
(AMENDMENT No.2) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3, 4, 19, 65(1), 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic regulation Act 1984 (‘the Act’) as amended of all other enabling powers, and having regard to Section 122 of the Act after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby propose to make the following order:-

The effect of the Order would be to allow National Highways to close part of the Highway for maintenance or emergency works on the following length of roads in Stockbury, Maidstone:-

SITTINGBOURNE ROAD (A249) and Slip Roads – From the south side of the Stockbury Roundabout for a distance of 690 metres in a south westerly direction to the end of the slip road tapers.

(AMENDMENT No.4) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3, 4, 19, 65(1), 124 and of Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic regulation Act 1984 (‘the Act’) as amended and all other enabling powers, and having regard to Section 122 of the Act, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby propose to make the following order:-

The effect of the above named Order will be to change access to one way only on the following length of road in Sheerness, Swale:-

THE CRESCENT – From its junction with Queenborough Road for a distance of 10 metres in a southerly direction.

TONBRIDGE & MALLING AREA

 

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, TONBRIDGE & MALLING)
(WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET PARKING PLACES)
(CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2025

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is given that The Kent County Council, acting as the Local Traffic Authority, in exercise of its powers and under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), 4(1) and (2), 32(1), 35(1), 44, 45, 46, 49 and 53 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (‘the Act’) and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby make the following Order:-

The effect of the made named Order will be to:-

a.  consolidate all stopping, waiting and loading prohibitions and restrictions and parking place provisions in all roads within the Borough Council of Tonbridge & Malling as marked and signed on street; and

b.  present the provisions for all stopping, waiting and loading prohibitions and restrictions and parking places in a new Map-based Traffic Regulation Order without change to those provisions, as currently marked and signed on street.

The Order was made on 3 April 2025 and its provisions will come into effect on 4 April 2025.
