What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Osborne Street, Colchester) (Bus Gate) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), and Part III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

Effect of the order: To Implement: 'Bus Gate Restriction allowing buses, motorcycles, pedal cycles, taxis, and private hire vehicles (licensed by a local authority) only'.

Road: Osborne Street, Colchester

Description: WESTBOUND TRAFFIC: From a point approximately 1.8 metres southeast from the corner of Osborne Street and Vineyard Gate, northwest for approximately 7.5 metres.

Date of operation: The Order will come into operation on 01 April 2025

Application to the high court: Anyone who wishes to question the validity of the Order of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within six weeks from the date of the making of the Order apply to the High Court for this purpose.

(Combined Speed Limits) Order 202*

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council proposes to make the above Order under S81, 82(1) & (2)(b), 83(2), 84(1)(a) and (2), and Parts III and IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended)

Effect of the order:

To Introduce: '40mph Speed Limit' (an existing National Speed Limit Road)

Road: Great Bentley Road, Thorrington

Description: From its junction with the B1029 Frating Road, Thorrington, northeast for approximately 154 metres.

The Essex County Council (Various Roads, Thorrington) (30mph Speed Limit and 40mph Speed Limit) Order 2024' is hereby revoked in its entirety. All other restrictions not mentioned above shall remain in force by virtue of the new Order.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Birch Road, Copford in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Church Road to its junction with Fountain Lane a distance of approximately 995m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2374157 - Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Copford Green, School Road, London Road, Western Approach, Warren Lane, Maldon Road, Hardys Green, Birch Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Grove Road, Tiptree)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Grove Road, Tiptree in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Kiltie Road for a distance of approximately 465m in a north westerly then south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th April 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008PLT248904202303 2024 - Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Grove Road, Newbridge Road, Chapel Road, Church Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Highwoods Approach, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Highwoods Approach, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Highclere Road for a distance of approximately 290m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2378376 - Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Highwoods Approach, Derwent Road, Brinkley Lane Roundabout, Brinkley Lane, Highclere Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of The Folley, Layer-de-la-Haye in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 180m north west of its junction with Abberton Road for a distance of approximately 190m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 22 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP003S50-2270 - Hopkins Homes). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct installation works are undertaken by Hopkins Homes.

An alternative route is available via The Folley, High Road, Malting Green Road, Abberton Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, City of Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway & Temporary Introduction of 30mph Speed Limit) & (Nayland Road, Colchester)

(Temporary Suspension of Bus Lane) & (Northern Approach Road, Colchester)

(Temporary Introduction of Banned Right Turn) Order (No.12) 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close the said length of road in the City of Colchester as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. To temporarily suspend the bus lane in that length of Nayland Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester as cited in "The Essex County Council (Nayland Road, Colchester) (Bus Lane) Order 2008". All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

3. To temporarily introduce a banned right-hand turn from Northern Approach Road, Colchester into Turner Road, Colchester.

4. To temporarily introduce a 30mph speed limit in the said length of road as specified in the schedule.

5. A temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road and those in the schedule for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Colchester Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time' restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 3rd April 2025, exact dates will be specified on one.network. The road will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

Mill Road West Diversion: Northern Approach Road, Nayland Road and vice versa.

Mill Road East Diversion: Mill Road, Severalls Lane, Axial Way, Via Urbis Romanae.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway)

Order (No.13) 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the City of Colchester as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. A temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of roads and those in the schedule for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

(West End Road, Tiptree)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of West End Road, Tiptree in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Priory Road to its junction with Maldon Road a distance of approximately 1160m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 39 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30033690308 - UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while installation works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Maldon Road, Braxted Park Road, Priory Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Coggeshall Road, Dedham)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Coggeshall Road, Dedham in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Dedham Meade for a distance of approximately 50m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MT00110261320 - Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while boundary box replacement works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Coggeshall Road, Long Road East, Bargate Lane, Harwich Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 20th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Eld Lane, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Eld Lane, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Long Wyre Street for a distance of approximately 20m in a south westerly then westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th April 2025 for 2 nights (19:00-06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (AD03165013016 - Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains fitting works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

No alternative route is available (with access only into Eld Lane).

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Frating Road, Ardleigh in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Park Road to its junction with Slough Lane a distance of approximately 1010m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th April 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2377984 - Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while sign and post replacement works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Grange Road, Tiptree in the City of Colchester & District of Maldon, from a point approximately 105m north east of its junction with Priory Road for a distance of approximately 190m in a north easterly direction.
