Askew Road - Temporary Footpath Closures to Facilitate Structural Works
What is happening?
THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (A184 ASKEW ROAD, GATESHEAD - FOOTPATH CLOSURES) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that on the 26 March 2025 the Borough Council of Gateshead made an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to introduce temporary prohibitions to pedestrians and cyclists at the locations as set out in the Schedule below.
The Order is required to facilitate structural works being carried out to remove a footbridge which spans the A184 Askew Road, carriageway improvement works and the formation of a new signalised junction. The Order will come into force on the 31 March 2025.
The Order will be in place until the 30 September 2025 or upon the conclusion of the works, whichever occurs first. During the works all pedestrians (except pedestrians associated with the works and emergency service personnel on duty) will be prohibited along the lengths of highway as set out in the Schedule below until the works are completed. Advance notification of the operative dates of each specific prohibition will be communicated by the display of traffic signs. The restrictions will only be in place as and when required and when traffic management is set out on the highway. During the works there will be a signed diversion in place.
