What is happening?

The Borough Council Of Gateshead
(A185 Shields Road & Kirkstone Road, Heworth) Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2021

Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles and pedestrians as set out in the Schedule below. 

The Order is required to facilitate works to remove a pedestrian island and electricity substation. 

It is proposed that the Order will come into force on the 12 April 2025. 

The maximum duration of the Order will be 18 months; however, the works are expected to be completed by the 18 May 2025. 

During the works all vehicles and pedestrians (except vehicles associated with the works, emergency service vehicles on duty and associated personnel) will be prohibited from proceeding on the highway as set out in the Schedule below until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. 

During the works there will be a signed diversion in place.

No Waiting, Stopping or Loading from a point 41 metres east of its junction with Low Heworth Lane in an easterly direction for a distance of 118 metres.
