York, Multiple Roads, Temporary Road Closures Due To Maintenance & Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 27 March 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (1) & (2). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (3), (4), (5), (6), (7) & (8).
(1) TOWTHORPE ROAD LEVEL CROSSING, HAXBY
This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Towthorpe Road Level Crossing, Haxby between the junctions with Mallard Way and Linley Avenue (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2300hrs on Saturday, 29 March 2025 and ending at 0730hrs on Sunday, 30 March 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Station Road, York Road, Haxby Road, A1237, Strensall Road.
(2) BUTCHER TERRACE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Butcher Terrace, York between its junction with Bishopthorpe Road and a location 21 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when water network works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 01 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Tuesday, 01 April 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Bishopthorpe Road, Cameron Grove, Finsbury Street.
(3) FAWCETT STREET, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Fawcett Street, York between its junctions with Kent Street & Escrick Street (closed road) during the period when crane removal works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0500hrs on Sunday, 06 April 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Sunday, 06 April 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally left hand turns from Escrick Street into Fishergate will be prohibited (restricted manoeuvre) and the one-way direction of traffic flow on the southbound carriageway of Fishergate between the junction with Escrick Street and a location 63 metres south of said junction will be reversed for the works period only to maintain access to Escrick Street in a northerly direction and all on-street parking will be suspended in Fawcett Street and Fishergate (restricted roads) (i) on the western side of Fawcett Street between its junctions with Paragon Street and Kent Street and (ii) on the eastern side of Fishergate between the junction with Fawcett Street and a location 40 metres north of said junction. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Paragon Street, Barbican Road Cemetery Road, Fulford Road, Fishergate.
(4) TOWTHORPE ROAD, HAXBY
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Towthorpe Road, Haxby between its junctions with Landing Lane and West Nooks (closed road) during the period when water network works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Sunday, 06 April 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Monday, 07 April 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Strensall Road, A1237 York Outer Ring Road, Haxby Road, York Road, Station Road.
(5) TAMWORTH ROAD, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Tamworth Road, York between its roundabout controlled junction with Water Lane and a location 20 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when sewer maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Tuesday, 08 April 2025 and ending at 1430hrs on Tuesday, 08 April 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Arlington Road, Water Lane.
(6) FIELD LANE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Field Lane, York between its junction with School Lane and its roundabout controlled junction with Kimberlow Lane (closed road) during the period when highway surface dressing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Saturday, 12 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 04 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1600hrs for just two days of the works period (weather dependent). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via University Road, Green Dykes Lane, Hull Road.
(7) YORK ROAD & YORK STREET, DUNNINGTON
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on York Road and York Street, Dunnington (i) on York Road between its junctions with A1079 Hull Road and York Street and (ii) on York Street between its junctions with York Road and Derwent Lane (closed roads) during the period when highway surface dressing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Saturday, 12 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 04 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1600hrs for just two days of the works period (weather dependent). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Common Road, A1079 Hull Road.
(8) STRENSALL ROAD, NORTH MOOR ROAD, NORTH ROAD & HUNTINGTON ROAD, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Strensall Road, North Moor Road, North Road & Huntington Road, York (i) on Strensall Road between its roundabout controlled junction with the A1237 York Outer Ring Road and its junction with North Moor Lane and (ii) on North Moor Lane between its junctions with Strensall Road and Huntington Road and (iii) on Huntington Road between its junction with North Moor Lane and it's roundabout controlled junction with Link Road and (iv) on North Lane between its junctions with North Moor Road and Chiltern Way (closed roads) during the period when highway surface dressing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Saturday, 12 April 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 04 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1600hrs for just two days of the works period (weather dependent). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via A1237 York Outer Ring Road, Haxby Road, Link Road.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
