What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A: School Road (Part), Seend; from its junction with A361 for a distance of approximately 70m in a north westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out installation of ducting and associated works for new customer service. Alternative route via School Road (unaffected length) – C20 – A361 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 10:00 and 15:00 for 1 day. For further information please contact Openreach on 08000100394.

B: C18 (Part), Malmesbury; from its junction with St Marys Street to its junction with B4040.

C: B4040 (Part), Malmesbury; from its junction with Burnivale to its junction with Hyde Street to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway surfacing works and other associated works. Alternative route via B4040 (unaffected length) – A429 – B4014 – C68 (unaffected length) – C99 – B4040 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 April 2025 and the closures will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 23:59 until 28 April 2025. D: Bincknoll Lane (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its roundabout junction with Stoneover Lane to its roundabout junction with Evening Star to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out bus stop repairs, renew kerbs and other associated works. Alternative route via Bincknoll Lane (unaffected length) – Swindon Road – Stoneover Lane and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00 until 09 May 2025. E: Breach Lane Footpath 25, Royal Wootton Bassett; from its junction with A3102 to its junction with Bincknoll Lane to enable Openreach to carry out works to desilt, clear blockages, lay ducting, install a new pole, cabling work and other associated works. Alternative route via C120 – White Bed – The Barton – Thornhill – Bushton Road – Marlborough Road – Station Road – New Road – A3102 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 23 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 for until 14 May 2025. F: C118 (Part), Christian Malford; from outside its property known as Rising Sun for a distance of approximately 70m in a northerly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out works to install a stop tap and other associated works. Alternative route via C118 (unaffected length) – B4069 – C132 – C111 – C118 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00 for 3 days. G: C110 (Part), The Gibb; from its junction with B4039 to its junction with the entrance to the Old Rectory for a distance of approximately 123m in a southerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out a pole replacement and other associated works. Alternative route via Fosse Way – Hillside Road – Slaughterford – C18 – Giddeahall – A420 – C110 (unaffected length) and vice versa. H: Southward Lane (Part), Aldbourne; from its junction with Marlborough Road to its junction with Farm Lane for a distance of approximately 124m to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway repairs and other associated works. Alternative route via C146 (unaffected length) – C33 – C72 – C66 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 for 1 day. For further information please contact Openreach on 08000589194.

I: A346 (Part), Marlborough and Ogbourne St Andrew; from its junction with A4 to its junction with Rockley Road to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out pothole patching works. Alternative route via A346 (unaffected length) – A4295 – A4361 – A4 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 04 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 23:59 for 1 night. J: Honey Lane (Part), Norton; from its junction with C1 to its property known as Vine Tree Inn to enable Openreach to carry out underground blockage clearance works and other associated works. Alternative route via Honey Lane (unaffected length) – C68 – C1 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 03 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. K: The Hyde (Part), Purton; from its property known as Roslynn for a distance of approximately 370m in an easterly direction to enable Gigaclear to carry out telecoms works in the carriageway and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 30 March 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 for 3 days. L: C67 (Part), Purton; from its junction with B4696 to its junction with Ringsbury Close to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing and other associated works. Alternative route via C67 (unaffected length) – C414 – Coped Hall – B4042 – B4696 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 31 March 2025 and the closure will be required until 01 April 2025. For further information please contact Wiltshire Council on 0300 456 0100.

M: South Street (Part), Pewsey; from its junction with North Street to its junction with Church Street to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out patching. Alternative route via Southcott Road (unaffected length) – Green Drove – Hill Road – Swan Road – Church Street – Wilcot Street – Market Place – North Street and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 01 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 15:00 for 1 day. N: U 186201 (Part), Easton Royal; from its junction with The Alley Lane for a distance of approximately 14m in a northerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out works to rebuild a carriageway and other associated works. Alternative route via C27 – C266 – C389 – U 186201 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 03 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00 for 1 day.

O: U186201 (Part), Aldbourne; from its junction with Byway 20, Aldbourne for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out surface patching and associated works. Alternative route via C29 (unaffected length) – C146 – C189 – C29 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 04 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00 for 1 day. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to close temporarily to all traffic:

Phase 1: C247 (Part), Calne Without; from outside its property known as Knights Marsh Farm to its junction with UC 006801.

Phase 1b: UC 006801 (Part), Calne Without; from its junction with C247 to its junction with a property known as Willow Farm.

Phase 2: C247 (Part), Calne; from its junction with UC 006801 to its property known as No.01 Rough Leaze to enable Openreach to carry out underground cabling work and other associated works.

Alternative route Phase 1 via UC 006801 (unaffected length) – C50 – A4 – C247 (unaffected length) and vice versa.

Alternative route Phase 2 via C247 (unaffected length) – C251 – B4038 – A3102 – A4 – C247 (unaffected length) and vice versa.

The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

Phase 1 of this Order will come into operation on 21 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day.

Phase 2 of this Order will come into operation on 22 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day.

It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

1. THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, WEDHAMPTON, URCHFONT) (20MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025

2. THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (A342, WEDHAMPTON, URCHFONT) (PROHIBITION OF ENTRY) ORDER 2025

(Both previously advertised as 2024)

Notice is hereby given that on 19 March 2025 Wiltshire Council made the above-mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which is as follows:

  • Order 1 – To introduce a 20mph speed limit on Cartway, Green Gate Road, High Street and Plum Lane, Wedhampton, Urchfont – the complete lengths.
  • Order 2 – To introduce a Prohibition of Entry prohibiting all vehicles entering A342 from High Street, Wedhampton.

A copy of the Orders can be obtained via email request to TrafficOrders@wiltshire.gov.uk. Any person aggrieved by the Orders and desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in the Orders on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant Section of the above Act or on the grounds that any requirement of that Section or of Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act or any regulation made under the said Schedule, has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court. The Orders will come into operation on 28 March 2025.
