Westgate Road - Temporary Traffic Regulation Order For Works
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(WESTGATE ROAD) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 20 March 2025 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all vehicle traffic from proceeding on Westgate Road from a point 78 metres southeast of its junction with Neville Street in a north westerly direction.
2. For the duration of the order the existing bus lane restriction on Westgate Road eastbound (offside lane) from its junction with Grainger Street to its junction with Neville Street will be suspended.
3. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.
4. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
5. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
6. The Order will come into operation on 7 April 2025 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 14 April 2025 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
