London, Multiple Traffic Notices, 20mph Speed Limit Order
What is happening?
Transport for London PUBLIC NOTICE:
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE GLA ROADS AND GLA SIDE ROADS (LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025
Transport for London hereby gives notice that on 24th March 2025 it made the above named Order, under section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will come into force on 31st March 2025.
The general nature and effect of the Order would be to impose a speed limit of 20 MPH speed limit on:
(1) A1205 Burdett Road between Mile End Road and East India Dock Road and all GLA Side Roads – Red Route returns of these roads in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
The Order will also consolidate existing 20 MPH schemes on: A10 Shoreditch High Street, A100 Shore Street/ Tower Bridge Approach and Tower Bridge, A11 Bow Road/ Mile End Road/ Whitechapel High Street/ Braham Street/ Mansell Street/ Colchester Street and Commercial Road, A1202 Commercial Street/ Leman Street/ Prescott Street, A1203 East Smithfield/ The Highway, A1210 Mansell Street, A126 Butcher Row, A13 Commercial Road between Whitechapel High Street and Butcher Row and the A1213 Byward Street and all GLA Side Roads – Red Route returns of these roads in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
The roads which would be affected by the Order are GLA Main Roads and all GLA Side Roads – Red Route returns of these roads in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets as listed in article 2 above.
The A1205 GLA Road – Burdett Road and its GLA Side Roads are currently subject to a permanent speed limit of 30 MPH.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
