What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (B5297 OXFORD STREET, WORKINGTON) (TEMPORARY ONE-WAY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a north westerly direction along that section of the B5297 Oxford Street, Workington, from its junction with Vulcans Lane to its junction with James Street.

A suitable alternative route for Southeast Bound Vehicles will be signed and available via Jane Street, Washington Street, Bridge Street, Hall Brow, A596 Northside Road, A596, A597 Station Road and Oxford Street.

The Order will come into operation on 13 April 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 3 days and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
