A1 Trunk Road A1 Motorway (Redhouse to Barnsdale Bar) - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14
THE A1 TRUNK ROAD AND A1(M) MOTORWAY (REDHOUSE TO BARNSDALE BAR)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A1 Trunk Road and A1(M) Motorway, in the counties of West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire, to enable grass cutting, gully emptying, VRS tensioning and VRS inspection works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start at 8pm on Tuesday 22 April 2024 for 4 nights, and Thursday 7th August for 6 nights or until completed. The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works, the A1 and A1(M): close the;
(i) A1(M) northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 40 (Darrington);
(ii) close the A1(M) southbound exit slip road at Junction 38 (Redhouse);
(iii) close the A1 northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at (Wentbridge); and
(iv) close the A1 northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 39 (Barnsdale Bar)
During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available.
Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).
The Order comes into force on 21 April 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
