Notice DISABLED PERSONS’ PARKING PLACES (SCOTLAND) ACT 2009

Under the terms of the above Act, Midlothian Council responds to requests from ‘Blue Badge’ holders for a ‘Disabled’ parking bay to be painted on the road close to their home.  When such a bay is no longer required, the markings are removed to release that space for general parking.

Traffic Orders

THE MIDLOTHIAN COUNCIL (PARKING PLACES FOR DISABLED MOTORISTS) (VARIATION NO 1) ORDER 2025-   TO/R5.3.121

The Council on 24 March 2025 made the above Order, which will come into force on 7 April 2025.  The effect, as stated in the Advertiser dated 20 February 2025, is to add further enforceable parking bays for disabled motorists to the existing Order which lists all such bays in Midlothian. 

THE MIDLOTHIAN COUNCIL (PARKING PLACES FOR DISABLED MOTORISTS) (VARIATION NO 2) ORDER 2025   -  TO/R5.3.122

The Council on 24 March 2025 made the above Order, which will come into force on 7 April 2025.  The effect is to remove from the Parent Order bays which are no longer needed, and thus to make these spaces available for general parking.

Details of both Orders may be examined at www.tellmescotland.gov.uk, at Libraries or from rebecca.marr@midlothian.gov.uk until 12 May 2025.

Anyone wishing to question the validity of either Order or of their provisions on the grounds that they are not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of such Act or of any regulations made thereunder have not been complied with, may until 12 May 2025 make application for this purpose to the Court of Session.

THE MIDLOTHIAN COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION ON WAITING, LOADING AND

UNLOADING ETC) (VARIATION NO _) ORDER 2025                                                                                                                                                        -  TO/R5.3.133

The Council proposes to make an Order to apply double yellow line waiting restrictions at the junction of Salters Terrace and Wilson Avenue in Dalkeith.  Details may be examined from 27 March to 18 April 2025 at www.tellmescotland.gov.uk, at Libraries or from david.chambers@midlothian.gov.uk.

Anyone wishing to object to this proposal should send details of their grounds of objection in writing, quoting reference R5.3.133, to: The Legal Services Manager, Midlothian Council, Midlothian House, 40 46 Buccleuch Street, Dalkeith EH22 1DN, or to legal@ midlothian.gov.uk, to arrive not later than 18 April 2025.

THE MIDLOTHIAN COUNCIL (B704 COCKPEN ROAD, BONNYRIGG) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025 TTRO/R 5.4.269

Notice is hereby given that Midlothian Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which is that for a temporary period to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works, B704 Cockpen Road will be closed in 3 phases between its junctions with Waverley Terrace and Baird’s Way.  The Order which has a maximum duration of 18 months has effect from 7 April 2025.  The work is expected to take about 2 weeks to complete. Pedestrian access will be maintained.  Alternative routes for general vehicular traffi c will be clearly sign posted. Kevin Anderson, Executive Director, Place

THE MIDLOTHIAN COUNCIL (NEWBYRES CASTLE OVERFLOW CARPARK, GOREBRIDGE) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025   TTRO/R5.4.268

Notice is hereby given that Midlothian Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which is that for a temporary period to facilitate the car park’s usage as a compound, storage and laydown area by Scottish Water, the entirety of Newbyres Castle overflow car parking area shall be closed. The Order which has a maximum duration of 18 months has effect from 7 April 2025. The works creating the closure are expected to take about 7 weeks to complete. General vehicular traffic will not have access to the car park.

THE MIDLOTHIAN COUNCIL (B6414 SALTERS ROAD/ B6414 LANGSIDE HEAD ROAD/ C47 COWDEN ROAD, WOODBURN) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025          TTRO/R.5.4.270

Notice is hereby given that Midlothian Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which is that for a temporary period, to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works, portions of B6414 Salters Road, B6414 Langside Head Road and C47 Cowden Road shall be closed in two phases:-

Phase 1: B6414 Salters Road, from the Thornybank roundabout to half the junction with B6414 Langside Head Road for a distance of 300m or thereby

Phase 2: C47 Cowden Road, from half the junction with B6414 Langside Head Road along to the junction with Ryndale Drive for a distance of 266m or thereby

The Order which has a maximum duration of 18 months has effect from 7 April 2025.  The work is expected take about 14 days to complete. Pedestrian access will be maintained.  Alternative routes for general vehicular traffic will be clearly sign posted.
