What is happening?

SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL

(Public Footpath LBA/2, Badminton) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers that length of Public Footpath LBA/2 which extends from Badminton Road/Well Lane southwards to a point 117m north of Shop Lane. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon building and deconstruction works. The order became operative from 1 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 7 weeks duration. Alternative route: Follow signed diversion.

(Public Footpath LWB/80, Hambrook) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Public Footpath LWB/80 which extends from Footpath/Cyclepath Avon Ring Road northwards for 50m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon Active Travel CRSTS works. The order became operative from 1 April 2025 for a maximum period of six months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 6 months duration. Alternative route: A4174 footway westbound, pedestrian crossing over Bristol Road, pedestrian crossing over B4058, pedestrian crossing over A4174 northbound, pedestrian crossing over B4058, A4174 footway eastbound and vice versa.

(Hicks Avenue, Emersons Green) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Hicks Avenue which extends from Emerson Way to Hill Close. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with defective reinstatement works. The order became operative from 2 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am to 3:30pm. Alternative route: Hicks Avenue, Thomas Avenue, Emerson Way and vice versa.

(Itchington Road, Tytherington) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Itchington Road which extends from a point 55m south west of Southlands south westwards for 770m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with road and site safety for engineers. The order became operative from 3 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am to 3:30pm. Alternative route: Itchington Road, Gloucester Road, Tytherington Road, Itchington Road and vice versa.

(Cross Hands Road and Marsh Common Road, Pilning) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this notice. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with pole replacement and tree cutting works. The order became operative from 6 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am to 3:30pm. Schedule: Cross Hands Road – that length with extends from Jackson Close to Marsh Common Road; Marsh Common Road – that length which extends from Cross Hands Road to Station Road. Alternative route: B4055, A4018, B4055, B4057, B4054, A4, A403, B4064 and vice versa.

(Footshill Drive, Hanham) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the entire length of Footshill Drive. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with gas main upgrade works. The order will be operative from 22 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 6 weeks duration. No alternative route available.

(Greenhill, Alveston) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Greenhill which extends from Wolfridge Ride southwards for 40m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with new water connection works. The order will be operative from 22 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 4 days duration. Alternative route: David’s Lane, A38, Greenhill Road and vice versa.

(Blackhorse Road, Kingswood) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Blackhorse Road which extends from Cecil Road southwards for 100m. 
This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon pole replacement works on or adjacent to the highway. The order will be operative from 25 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am to 3:30pm. Alternative route: CLOCKWISE: Blackhorse Road, A420 Regent Street, B4046 Hanham Road, Forest Road. ANTI-CLOCKWISE: Blackhorse Road, Forest Road, Hanham Road, Cecil Road.

(Various Roads and Footpaths, Badminton Area – Badminton Horse Trials) (Temporary Traffic Regulation Order) 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to –
1. prohibit, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 1 to this notice from making a right turn onto the roads specified in column 2 of the said Schedule between the hours and on the dates specified in column 3 of the said Schedule.
2. close, temporarily, to vehicles, the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 2 to this notice, between the hours and on the dates specified in column 2 of the said Schedule.
3. close, temporarily, to vehicles, pedal cycles, pedestrians and equestrians Roaches Lane (LBA/3/10), Badminton from Slaits Road south westwards for 130m between 0600 hours and 1800 hours on 10th May 2025.
4. close, temporarily, to pedestrians Footpath LHA/109, Hawkesbury between Park Road and Cherry Orchard Lane between 0600 hours and 1800 hours on 10 May 2025.
5. institute, temporarily, one way traffic working in the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 3 to this notice in the direction indicated in relation to that length of road in column 2 of the said Schedule, between the hours and on the dates specified in column 3 of the said Schedule.
6. prohibit, temporarily, any motor vehicle from travelling at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 4 to this notice between Midnight on 5 May 2025 and 2359 hours on 11 May 2025.
7. prohibit, temporarily, any motor vehicle from travelling at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 5 to this notice between Midnight on 5 May 2025 and 2359 hours on 11 May 2025.
8. prohibit, temporarily, vehicles waiting at any time in the lengths and sides of road specified in Schedule 6 to this notice between 0600 hours and 1900 hours on any day between 7 May 2025 and 11 May 2025. Loading/Unloading of goods from vehicles will be permitted.

This order is required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon traffic congestion and other adverse traffic conditions created by the holding of the Badminton Horse Trials and will become operative from the 5 May 2025 between the hours and on the dates specified in this notice.
