Luton - Multiple Traffic Notices

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.10) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 28th April 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Culverhouse Road the whole length. Diversion route via Austin Road, Bishopscote Road, Montrose Avenue. Alternatively, via Montrose Avenue, New Bedford Road, Austin Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 28th April 2025 to 5th May 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Leicester Road from its junction with Dunstable Road to its junction with Weatheby Road. Diversion route via Weatheby Road, Atherstone Road, Dunstable Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 5th May 2025 to 9th May 2025, 8pm to 5am.
Seymour Road from its junction with Seymour Road to its junction with Alton Road. Diversion route via Alton Road, Park Street, Seymour Road. Alternatively, via Seymour Road, Cutenhoe Road, West Hill Road, Strathmore Avenue, Seymour Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 5th May 2025 to 9th May 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Humberstone Road from its junction with Humberstone Close to its junction with Dunstable Road. Diversion route via Roman Road Roundabout, Oakley Road, Dunstable Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 12th May 2025 to 16th May 2025, 8pm to 5am.
New Town Street from its junction with Latimer Road to its junction with Albert Road. Diversion route via New Town Street. Alternatively, via Hollys Street, Castle Street, Hibbert Street, Albert Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 12th May 2025 to 16th May 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Marlow Avenue from a point outside no. 59 to a point outside no. 68. Diversion route not available. Anticipated date and times of closure 19th May 2025 to 23rd May 2025. 8am to 6pm.

The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable highway maintenance works to be carried out. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic will be marked by signs.
