Chalkwell, Temporary Footbridge Closure Due To Public Safety Concerns
What is happening?
SOUTHEND-ON-SEA CITY COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIAN ACCESS) (TTO 2335) ORDER 2025 (CHALKWELL STATION EAST FOOTBRIDGE, THE RIDGEWAY)
Notice is given that the Southend-on-Sea City Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 has proposed to make the above Order. The effect of the Order will be as follows:
Southend-on-Sea City Council will be closing Chalkwell Station East Footbridge, which connects Chalkwell Station to Chalkwell Beach, due to public safety concerns.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce a temporary prohibition pedestrian access on Chalkwell Station East Footbridge on The Ridgeway.
Diversion route will be as follows: The Ridgeway - Chalkwell Avenue - Chalkwell Esplanade.
The Order and prohibitions will come into effect on 31st March 2025 this Order will continue in force for 6 months.
