Gravesham, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make  the following Orders.

 

GRAVESHAM AREA

 

A226 Gravesend Road, Higham  ME3 7DP (CYCLE LANE SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

Because of drainage cleansing works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily suspend the cycle lane on part of A226 Gravesend Road, Higham, on or after 14th April 2025 for up to 1 night between 22.00hrs and 03.00hrs or until the works have been completed.

The cycle lane will be suspended between Irvine Road and Crutches Lane.

 

A226 Rochester Road, Gravesend, DA12 4TT (CYCLE LANE SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

Because of a new gas connection, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily suspend the cycle lane on part of A226 Rochester Road, Gravesend, on or after 16th April 2025 for up to 10 days between 08:00hrs and 16:00hrs or until the works have been completed.

The cycle lane will be suspended between numbers 350 and 360.

 

Chapmans Hill, Meopham, DA13 0QP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

Because of drainage improvement works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Chapmans Hill, Meopham, on or after 14th April 2025 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Oak Leaves.

The alternative route is via Chapmans Hill, Rosemary Lane, Hodsoll Street, A227 Wrotham Road and vice versa.

 

Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, DA11 7HU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow a mobile crane to lift a unit to the roof, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, on or after 16th April 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside The Hospice.

The alternative route is via Coldharbour Road, New House Lane, A227 Wrotham Road and vice versa.

 

Ellerslie, Gravesend, DA12 2QU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

Because of a new water connection, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Ellerslie, Gravesend, on or after 14th April 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Ellerslie Court.

There is no alternative route but access will be given when safe to do so.

 

Henley Street, Luddesdown, DA13 0XE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

Because of Southern Water works, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Henley Street, Luddesdown, on or after 31st March 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Darnley Cottage.

The alternative route is via Henley Street, Gold Street, Sole Street, The Street, Cobhambury Road, Luddesdown Road and vice versa.

 

Nash Bank, Northfleet, DA13 9HN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

Because of new gas mains for the Lower Thames Crossing, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on Nash Bank, Northfleet, on or after 14th April 2025 for up to 19 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed for the entire length.

The alternative route is via Nash Bank, A227 Wrotham Road, Arcadia Road, Downs Road and vice versa.

 

New House Lane, Gravesend, DA11 7JL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

Because of a new electricity connection, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of New House Lane, Gravesend, on or after 17th April 2025 for up to 35 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between Coldharbour Road to the development site.

The alternative route is via New House Lane, Coldharbour Road, A227 Wrotham Road and vice versa.

 

Parrock Street, Gravesend, DA12 1HD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

Because of a new gas service connection, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Parrock Street, Gravesend, on or after 6th April 2025 for up to 6 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 84.

The alternative route is via Parrock Road, B261 Old Road East/Old Road West, A227 Wrotham Road, A226 Bath Street/Harmer Street/Milton Road, Parrock Street.

 

Springhead Road & York Road, Northfleet DA11 9PN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

Because of the renewal of old gas mains, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Springhead Road and York Road, Northfleet on or after 5th April 2025 for up to 17 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at their junctions with each other.

The alternative route is via Springhead Road, B2175 London Road, A226 Thames Way and vice versa.

 

VARIOUS ROADS, GRAVESHAM (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow a programme of highway maintenance and ancillary activities on Kent County Council’s strategic roads and to support our annual high speed road programme, Kent County Council has made an Order to restrict traffic on various roads in Kent, as shown below.

This Order takes effect on or after 1 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months or until the works have been completed. Planned dates will be published in advance of the works and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start. This programme is subject to weather and other factors and may therefore change; every effort will be made to keep as close as possible to the programmed dates and duration. Changes will be notified locally and signposted on site.

Road Closed from A226 Gravesend Road Interchange to M2 Junction 1 interchange (both directions)

Alternative route via

Medway-bound closure: Divert along the A2 onto Brewers Road over the A2 then back on A2 Eastbound, Watling Street, B2108 Rede Court Road, A226 back to A289.

London-bound closure: Divert onto A226 Gravesend Road, B2018 Rede Court Road, A2 Watling Street carry on for London bound, coastbound leave the A2 at Brewers Road over the bridge then re-join A2 Eastbound.

Road Closed Between Northbound slip road to Wainscott Bypass and A2 Watling Street mini Roundabout

Alternative route via

East-bound closure: Divert along the A289 Hasted Road (Wainscott Bypass), off on the slip road to the A226, turn right at the roundabout onto the A226 Gravesend Road, then right onto the B2018 Rede Court Road and onto the A2 Watling Street.
