Essex – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Works
What is happening?

(High Street, Rayleigh (Side Road))
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of High Street, Rayleigh (Side Road) in the District of Rochford, from its most northerly junction with High Street to its most southerly junction with High Street a distance approximately 80m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th April 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN013321730 - Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water connection works are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.
No alternative route is available.
The Order will come into effect on 27th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Little Wakering Road, Great Wakering/ Little Wakering & Barrow Hall Road, Little Wakering) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of Little Wakering Road, Great Wakering/ Little Wakering in the District of Rochford, from the junction of Coronation Close to the junction of Track Leading To Little Wakering Wick Farm a distance of approximately 600m.
2. To temporarily close that length of Barrow Hall Road, Little Wakering in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Little Wakering Road to its junction with Turbot Drive a distance of approximately 90m.
The closures are scheduled to commence on 16th April 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC1170000000000296622DNO, BC117000000000296622DN01, BC117000000000296622DN02 -Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead wire replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Little Wakering Road, Barling Road, Southend Road and vice versa (with access only into Barrow Hall Road).
The Order will come into effect on 27th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Oak Road, Ramsden Crays)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Oak Road, Ramsden Crays in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 745m west of its junction with Gardiners Lane North for a distance of approximately 630m in a westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2380853 -Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Oak Road, Gardiners Lane North, London Road, Crays Hill, Hardings Elms Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 27th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Runwell Road, Wickford)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Runwell Road, Wickford in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Swan Lane to its junctions with Runwell Road Roundabout a distance of approximately 135m.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th April 2025 for 5 nights (22:00-06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2380235 - Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while gully grate and frame replacement works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Runwell Road, Church End Lane, Swan Lane and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 27th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(High Road, Fobbing)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of High Road, Fobbing in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 55m north west of its junction with Moores Avenue for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 30/03/2025 02:00-31/03/2025 03:00 (25hours), or where stated on a valid permit (KL733TLL-30-36-300325 - Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while level crossing resetting works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
An alternative route is available via High Road, Five Bells Roundabout South, Five Bells Road, Link Road From B1420 And Bells Corner Roundabout To Boundary, Bells Corner Roundabout, Southend Road, Lampits Hill, Church Road, Fobbing Road, Lion Hill, High Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 13th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Metz Avenue, Canvey Island)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Metz Avenue, Canvey Island in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Sydervelt Road for a distance of approximately 60m in north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 31st March 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411SA002WFRWN94T - Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while telegraph pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Sydervelt Road, Tongres Road, Thelma Avenue, Metz Avenue and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 13th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.5)
Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the Borough of Castle Point as specified in the schedule to this Order.
2. A temporary "No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
"The Essex County Council (Castle Point Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting at Any Time' restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 13th March 2025 exact dates will be specified on One.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

(Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.6) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. A temporary "No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on those lengths of road as specified in the schedule. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
