Essex - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Parking Restrictions

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Bardfield Road, Thaxted)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bardfield Road, Thaxted in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 190m west of its junction with Bardfield End Green for a distance of approximately 145m in a westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th April 2025 for 3 nights (22:00 - 05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP02231012657 – New Homes Bardfield Road Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing works are undertaken by New Homes Bardfield Road Limited.

An alternative route is available via Mill End, Town Street, Watling Street, Newbiggen Street, Walden Road, Great Sampford Road, Thaxted Road, Sampford Hall Lane, Bardfield End Green Road, Bardfield End Green and vice versa (with access only into Bardfield Road).

The Order will come into effect on 27th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Stebbing Road, Felsted)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Stebbing Road, Felsted in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 735m south west then south then south west of its junction with Dunmow Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06047801/AP – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while remedial works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Stebbing Road, Dunmow Road, Braintree Road, Watch House Green, School Lane, Garnetts Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 27th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Clifford Smith Drive, Felsted)

(Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ on that length of Clifford Smith Drive, Felsted in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Braintree Road to its junction with Porter Close a distance of approximately 100m.

2. "The Essex County Council (Uttlesford Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The clearway is scheduled to commence on 1st April 2025 for 275 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02231012349 – Mulberry homes). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while safe access for construction traffic is provided by Mulberry Homes.

The Order came into effect on 13th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Town Street, Thaxted)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Town Street, Thaxted in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Park Street for a distance of approximately 15m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th April 2025 for 1 night (19:00 - 23:00), or where stated on a valid permit (AD037R058766776/7 – Anglian Water).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while remedial works to repair defective tarmac around manhole cover in carriageway works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Dunmow Road, Woodside Way, Woodside Way Roundabout, Stebbing Road, Dunmow Bypass, Chelmsford Road, A120, Braintree Bypass – A131, Broad Road Roundabout, Broad Road, Convent Hill, Church Lane, Deanery Hill, Panfield Road, Braintree Road, The Street, Wethersfield Road, Silver Street, Meadside, Finchingfield Road, Wethersfield Road, Church Hill, The Green, Brent Hall Road, Sampford Road, Hawkins Hill, Mill Road, Watling Street, Great Sampford Road and vice versa (with access only into Town Street, Watling Street, Newbiggen Street, Walden Road, Mill End, Dunmow Road).

The Order came into effect on 13th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
