Chapel Street (D4015) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 14 March 2025, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Chapel Street (D4015) Guildford.

There is no alternative route for this closure.

The Order is required to allow SGN to facilitate gas main repairs and all associated works which is anticipated to be completed within 5 days, between 8:00am and 4:00pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 31 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for residents, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.


Dawney Hill (A324) Pirbright Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 14 March 2025, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Dawney Hill (A324) Pirbright as extends from its junction with Gole Road (B3012) to its junction with Caterham Close (X324).

Alternative Route – B3012 (Gole Road), B3405 (Stanley Hill, Grange Road and School Lane) and A324 (Dawney Hill), or this route in reverse.

The Order is required to allow Knights Brown Construction Ltd to facilitate road widening works and all associated works which is anticipated to be completed within 4 months, between 7:00am and 6:00pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 31 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.


Old Portsmouth Road (A3100) Peasmarsh and New Pond Road (B3000) Godalming Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 19 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of (a) Old Portsmouth Road (A3100) Peasmarsh as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (A248) Broadford Road to its junction at the roundabout with (B3000) New Pond Road; and (b) New Pond Road (B3000) Godalming as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (A3100) Old Portsmouth Road to its junction with (D5400) Summers Road. 

Alternative Routes – (1) A3100 Old Portsmouth Road/Portsmouth Road/Park Street; A31 Farnham Road/Hog’s Back; A3000 Puttenham Heath Road/The Street/New Pond Road; and A3100 Old Portsmouth Road; and (2) A3000 New Pond Road/The Street/Puttenham Heath Road; A31 Hog’s Back/Farnham Road; A322 Bridge Street/Onslow Street; A3100 Park Street/Portsmouth Road; and A3100 Old Portsmouth Road. 

This Order, which will commence on 01 April 2025 for a period of 18 months is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, to be carried out by or on behalf of Surrey County Council, including but not limited to: highway improvement works and/or traffic signals works and/or major highway maintenance works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out as nighttime works, and the works will not take the full duration of the Order. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed; and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route. 

During certain phases of the works, vehicular access to premises may be restricted, when this is the case such restriction of access will apply for no more than eight hours within any 24-hour period.


D98 Bourne Road, Farncombe Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 19 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic, including cyclists, equestrians and pedestrians from entering or proceeding in that length of D98 Bourne Road, Farncombe, including the footway, that extends from the northern side of its junction with D5400 Summers Road, to the southern side of its junction with D5411 Station Road. 

This Traffic Order is required to enable Network Rail and/or Centurion to carry out repair and/or replacement and/or maintenance works at the level crossing. These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 11:30pm and 5am within 2 nights of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 02 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for pedestrians and, dismounted cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times via means of a temporary footway. 

No sole access to any property will be affected. Access for emergency services, residents and businesses will be maintained at all times to the point of works via the alternative route: – Bourne Road, Summers Road, Farncombe Street and Station Road.


A323 Guildford Road, Normandy Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 19 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of A323 Guildford Road, Normandy that extends from its junction with C16 Westwood Lane, to its junction with D60 Glaziers Lane. 

This Traffic Order is required to enable Cappagh to carry out excavations and/or water service connections and/or installations and/or maintenance works near to “Wyke Lodge, Guildford Road”. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8am and 5:30pm within 2 weeks of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 04 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure which is anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for emergency services, residents, businesses, equestrians, cyclists and pedestrians will be maintained at all times. 

Alternative route for HGVs: – Guildford Road, Aldershot Road, Guildford and Godalming By-Pass, Hogs Back, Ash Street and Guildford Road. 

Alternative route for smaller vehicles: – Guildford Road, Glaziers Lane, Flexford Road, Westwood Lane and Guildford Road.


Green Lane (D248) Ockham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

On 19 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Green Lane (D248) Ockham as extends from its junction with (X7392) Edenwood Close and for a distance of 73 metres in an easterly direction. 

Alternative Route: (B2039) Ockham Road North, Long Reach, and Green Lane, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate carriageway utility works for, or on behalf of TriConnex Ltd. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 5 days, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 31 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.


Berkeley Drive (D6947) West Molesey Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

On 19 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Berkeley Drive (D6947) West Molesey. 

Alternative Route: The Crescent, Boleyn Drive, and (A3050) Hurst Road, or this route in reverse. 

This Order is required to facilitate safe construction works for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible and works are anticipated to be carried out within 4 weeks, during the 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 01 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. 

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclist. All other vehicular traffic will be required to following the diversion route. 

The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.


Hurst Road (A3050) and Rosemary Avenue (D6947) West Molesey Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 19 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of; (a) Hurst Road (A3050) West Molesey as extends from its junction with the westernmost junction of (D6947) Boleyn Drive to its junction with (D6949) Hurstfield Road; (b) Rosemary Avenue (D6947) West Molesey as extends from its junction with (A3050) Hurst Road to its junction with (X1745) Sandringham Gardens. 

Alternative Route: (1) (A3050) Hurst Road, (B369) Walton Road, (B3379) Bridge Road, (B3379) Creek Road, (A309) Hampton Court Way, (A3050) Creek Road, (A3050) Bridge Road, (A3050) River Bank, and (A3050) Hurst Road; (2) (A3050) Hurst Road, (A3050) River Bank, (A309) Hampton Court Way, (B3379) Creek Road, (B3379) Bridge Road, (B369) Walton Road, and (A3050) Hurst Road; (3) Rosemary Avenue, (B369) Walton Road, (B3379) Bridge Road, (B3379) Creek Road, (A309) Hampton Court Way, (A3050) Creek Road, (A3050) Bridge Road, (A3050) River Bank, and (A3050) Hurst Road; (4) (A3050) Hurst Road, (A3050) River Bank, (A309) Hampton Court Way, (B3379) Creek Road, (B3379) Bridge Road, (B369) Walton Road, and Rosemary Avenue. 

This Order is required to facilitate construction of a signalised pedestrian crossing, including resurfacing, road marking, and kerb build out works and/or maintenance works for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. 

For part (a) These works are anticipated to be carried out over 4 weeks, between the hours of 8pm and 6am, for part (b) These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible and works are anticipated to take 4 weeks, during the 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 01 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road including access by emergency vehicles to these properties will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route. All other traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route.


Peaslake Road (D222) Ewhurst Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.1) 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of; (a) Peaslake Road (D222) Ewhurst; (b) Suspend “The Surrey County Council Peaslake Road (D222) Ewhurst Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024” in its entirety. 

Alternative Route: Ewhurst Road, Walking Bottom, Lawbrook Lane, and Pitch Hill, or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to facilitate remedial works for, or on behalf of Broadband for Surrey Hills Ltd. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day, between the hours of 9am and 4pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 15 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, via road plates, if required, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to:- (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice; (b) revoke part 7 of the Schedule of “Surrey County Council Various Roads in the Borough of Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.6) 2023”. 

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate carriageway surfacing/patching works and/or fine milling works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 7 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. 

Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route.

Notice of Modification Order Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 The Surrey County Council Definitive Map and Statement Public Footpath Nos. 558 (Chiddingfold) and 602 (Witley) Definitive Map Modification Order 2025 

The above order, made on 11 March 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding to them a public footpath from footpath 137 (Witley) (grid ref: 494799, 137804) west south west to the Chiddingfold parish boundary and then continuing west south west, south south east, west south west, south and east in an anticlockwise route through Potato Copse to footpath. 137 (Chiddingfold) (grid ref: 494844, 137623).

Any representation or objection relating to the order must be sent in writing to the Countryside Access team (quoting reference DW/RC/CP586), at Surrey County Council, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ not later than 2 May 2025. Applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made. 

If no representations or objections are duly made to the order, or to any part of it, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State (or part of it if the authority has by notice to the Secretary of State so elected under paragraph 5 of Schedule 15 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981) may itself confirm the Order (or that part of the Order).

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)&(2) Public Footpath 184 (Windlesham) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 184 (Windlesham) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made on the grounds of public safety due to the bridge over the M3 Motorway being declared unsafe by National Highways. 

The Order came into operation on 12 October 2023 and was due to expire on 2 April 2024. 

It has was then continued in force for a further 12 months by the Secretary of State for Transport until 2 April 2025. It has now been continued in force by a further 2 months until 2 June 2025 or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

The Order as continued will have the effect of prohibiting all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Footpath 184 (Windlesham) at the M3 Bagshot Heath Footbridge over the M3 Motorway between grid ref 491334 162314 and 491377 162240.

The temporary closure will only operate while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.

There is no suggested alternative route.

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 184 (Windlesham) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.


Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1) Public Footpaths 197, 225, 223 (Shere) Public Bridleways 205 (Shere) and 205 (Cranleigh) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 01 April Surrey County Council will make the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Footpath 197 (Shere) in A Westerly direction from grid reference 506981 143328 to grid reference 506647 143248. Also from that point heading south for 55 metres on Public Bridleway 205 (Shere) and then North West on Public footpath 223 (Shere) to Grid reference 506382 143529 and West on Public Footpath 225 (Shere) to Grid reference 506402 143129.

Also. From Public Bridleway 205 Shere at grid reference 506523 143837 heading South to Public Bridleway 205 (Cranleigh) at Grid reference 506625 142994.

The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due to heavy plant machinery on the highway. 

The closure will be in operation for a period of sixteen days from 03 April 2025 or until completion of the works, if earlier. 

That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route for pedestrians from 506981 143328 will be to head South on the track sign posted on site for 300 metres, then head West on the same track for 334 metres and cross the intersection of Public Bridleway (205 Cranleigh) then continue on the same track North West for 275 metres to where it intersects Public Footpath 225 (Shere) at grid reference 506402 143129. 

Then carry on the same track North West for 104 metres to meet Public Bridleway 224 (Albury). 

Then continue North on Public Bridleway 224 (Albury) for 322 metres to where the Bridleway intersects Public Footpath 223 (Shere) at grid reference 506382 143529.

The alternative route for horses and cyclists from grid reference 506523 143837 will be to head South West on Public Bridleway 205a (Albury) for 216 metres, then continue south on Public Bridleway 205a (Albury) for 138 metres to Public Bridleway 224 (Albury).

Then continue south for 488 metres to Public Bridleway 224 (Cranleigh), then head South East for 409 metres. Then head North on Public Bridleway 205 (Cranleigh) for 223m metres to grid reference 506625 142994.

“The Public Footpaths 197, 225, 223 (Shere) and Public Bridleways 205 (Shere) and 205 (Cranleigh) Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2025” will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
