What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 The East Sussex (U3000 St Helens Park Road,
Hastings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
St Helens Park Road – from the junction with U3288 St Helens Park Road to the junction with U3036 Baird Drive.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 7 April 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 7 and 11 April 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3109 Caves Road, St Leonards-on-Sea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road; Temporary Road Closure
Caves Road – from the junction with A259 Grosvenor Crescent to the junction with U3109 Sussex Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A259 Grosvenor Crescent, Marina – U3109 Sussex Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 7 April 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 7 and 9 April 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A268 Whitebread Lane, Beckley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Whitebread Lane – from the junction with U6415 Stoddards Lane to the junction with A268 Peasmarsh Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A268 Whitebread Lane, Peasmarsh Road – B2088 Main Street, Northiam Road, Rye Road – A28 Main Street, Station Road – A268 Whitebread Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 7 April 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 7 and 11 April 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C18 Herrings Road, Ashburnham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C18 Herrings Road – C277 Bluekiln Road, Redpale, North Road – C16 White Horse Road, The Causeway, Victoria Road – A271 Windmill Hill Road, The Strait, Boreham Hill, Kitchenham Road – C18 Hammer Hill, Church Road, Ponts Green and vice versa.
The Order commences 10 April 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 10 and 14 April 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3287 Fearon Road, Hastings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Fearon Road – at its junction with U3288 St Helens Park Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3287 Fearon Road – C215 Elphinstone Road – U3286 Laton Road – U3288 St Helens Park Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 24 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 24 March 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3044 Gillsmans Drive, St Leonards-on-Sea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Gillsmans Drive – for its full extent.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 23 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 23 and 25 March 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A269 London Road, Bexhill) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
London Road – from the junction with U6600 Salisbury Road to the junction with A2690 Combe Valley Way.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A269 London Road – A2690 Combe Valley Way.
The Order commences 24 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 24 March and 4 April 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6716 North Road, Bexhill)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road; Temporary Road Closure
North Road – from the junction with U6716 Suffolk Road to the junction with U6716 Preston Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic southbound via U6716 Preston Road – C345 Watermill Lane – A269 Ninfield Road – U6718 Glovers Lane – U6716 North Road and northbound via U6716 Suffolk Road, Sidley Street – A269 Ninfield Road – C345 Watermill Lane – U6716 Preston Road.
The Order commences 21 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 21 March 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (Hastings Half Marathon) (Special Event) Order 2025
To allow preparations to be made in the race start and finish area, and to facilitate the safety of participants, organisers and the travelling public, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 16A to C of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road along the route to be taken by the competitors for a short period of time during the event:-
Temporary Road Closures – Sunday 23 March 2025 from 05:00hrs - 15:00hrs
Sea Road (U3105), Grosvenor Crescent (A259), Bexhill Road (A259), West Hill Road (U3106), St Vincents Road (U3107), Filsham Road (C238), Harley Shute Road (B2092), Crowhurst Road (B2092), Queensway (B2092), The Ridge West (A2100), The Ridge (B2093), Winchelsea Road (C825), Rye Road (A259), Old Top Road (U3240), Middle Road (U3240), Fairlight Road (C231), Old London Road (A259), Saxon Road (U3214), Canute Road (U3232), Harold Road (U3214), Dudley Road (U3222), Ashburnham Road (U3224), All Saints Street (U3214), Rock A Nore Road (U3212), East Beach Street (A259), East Parade (A259), Marine Parade (A259), Marina (A259) (closure of Marina may be required during the mini-run event), Grosvenor Gardens (U3105), Combe Valley Way (A2690) between the Queensway junction and the roundabout accessing the Industrial Estate and Seaside Road (U3105) from its junction with Grosvenor Gardens to its junction with Seaside Way.
The alternative routes for through traffic will be directed by Police/Marshalls. Marshalls will assist in diverting traffic via Wrestwood Road, A259 and A21.
Temporary Road Closures – Saturday 22 March 2025
To enable preparations in the start/finish area Sea Road (U3105) and Grosvenor Gardens (U3105) will be closed the day before the race.
Through traffic will be diverted westbound via Grosvenor Crescent and eastbound via Seaside Road, Seaside Way, Bexhill Road and Grosvenor Crescent.
Access for pedestrians should not be affected and vehicular access for residents and to properties within the closed area will be maintained wherever possible. The restrictions will be lifted as soon as the event is complete and the Police are satisfied that it is safe to re-open the roads.
