Sandwell Area - Multiple Temporary Road Closures

What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Blackheath Interchange) (Market Place, Rowley Regis) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the following roads in Rowley Regis:-
PHASE 1 (anticipated dates 31/03/25 - 19/04/25) Temporary prohibition of driving (7pm - 6am only) Market Place – in its entirety.
Birmingham Road – Market Place to the extended northern boundary of No.66 Birmingham Road (Shoulder of Mutton Public House).
Oldbury Road – Market Place to the extended boundary of No’s 18 & 20 Oldbury Road. Long Lane – Market Place to the junction of Park Street West.
Halesowen Street – Market Pace to the extended southern boundary of No.1 Halesowen Street. High Street – Market Place to the extended boundary
between No’s 4 & 5 High Street.
Traffic will be diverted via Archer Way, Henderson Way & vice versa & via Horner Way, Halesowen Street, Bassano Road, High Street & Henderson Way.
PHASE 2 (anticipated dates 20/05/25 - 05/08/25)
Temporary prohibition of driving (24 hours) Oldbury Road – Market Place to the extended boundary of No’s 18 & 20 Oldbury Road.
Temporary prohibition of right turning (24 hours) From Market Place into Halesowen Street & from High Street into Market Place.
PHASE 3 (anticipated dates 06/08/25 - 22/09/25) Temporary prohibition of driving (24hrs) Oldbury Road – Market Place to the extended boundary
of No’s 18 & 20 Oldbury Road.
Temporary prohibition of right turning (24hrs) From Market Place into Halesowen Street & from High Street into Market Place.
Temporary prohibition of driving other than in a southerly direction (24hrs)
Vehicles will be prohibited from travelling along Market Place between No.7 & Long Lane between Market Place & Archer Way/Horner Way other than in a southerly direction. A diversion route for northbound vehicles will be signed via Archer Way & Henderson Way & via Horner Way, Halesowen Street & Bassano Road.
PHASE 4 (anticipated dates 20/10/25 - 31/10/25) Temporary prohibition of driving (7pm - 6am) Market Place – in its entirety. Birmingham Road – Market Place to the extended northrern boundary of No.66 Birmingham Road (Shoulder of Mutton Public House).
Oldbury Road – Market Place to the extended boundary of No’s 18 & 20 Oldbury Road. Long Lane – Market Place to the junction of Park Street West.
Halesowen Street – Market Pace to the extended southern boundary of No.1 Halesowen Street. High Street – Market Place to the extended boundary
between No’s 4 & 5 High Street. Traffic will be diverted via Archer Way, Henderson Way & vice versa & via Horner Way, Halesowen Street, Bassano Road, High Street & Henderson Way. Temporary prohibition of driving (24hrs)
Park Street West – access to the public car park closed. No diversion route will be signed as this road is a cul-de sac.
Payne Street – closed at the point of its junction with Bassano Road. Traffic will be diverted via Bassano Road, High Street, Market Place, Birmingham Street, Halesowen Street, Beeches Road, John Street, Payne Street & vice versa.
The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 31/10/25 effective from 31/03/25. Purpose – to facilitate the installation of Blackheath Interchange. For more information contact Steve Scrivens of Sandwell MBC: steve_scrivens@sandwell.gov.uk 
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Station Road and Thompson Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closures) and (Station Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Footway Closures) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Station Road from the junction of Western Road (eastern side) to the entrance for Alcohols Limited (western side) and Thompson Road
at the junction of Station Road. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Station Road (closure) – traffic will be diverted via Crosswells Road, Vicarage Road, Tat Bank Road, Western Road and vice versa. Thompson Road (closure) – traffic will be diverted via Highbury Road and Bloxcidge Street to join the Station Road diversion route. The order
intends to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along both footways in Station Road from the junction of Western Road (eastern side) to the entrance to Alcohols Limited (western side) for the duration of the
above works. A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Thompson Road, New Henry Street, Langley Green Road, Mill Lane and vice versa. Purpose – to facilitate access to install a new railway crossing pedestal by Network Rail Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (William Green Road, Wednesbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along William Green Road which will be closed
from the junction of Price Road to the dividing line of property Nos 57/59. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Crankhall Lane, Price Road and vice versa.
The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 04/04/25 effective from 31/03/25 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to install a new flat top speed table by RW Services Contractors Ltd
on behalf of Sandwell MBC.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (High Street, George Street, Overend Street, Florence Road, Hope Street, Jesson Street, Salisbury Road, Thynne Street, Trinity Road North, Trinity Street, Birmingham Road, Bagnall Street, Roebuck Lane, Beeches Road, Bagnall Street, Roebuck Street and Salters Vale, West Bromwich) 
(Temporary Road Closures) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along High Street, George Street, Overend Street, Florence Road,
Hope Street, Jesson Street, Salisbury Road, Thynne Street, Trinity Road North, Trinity Street, Birmingham Road, Bagnall Street, Roebuck Lane, Beeches Road, Bagnall Street, Roebuck Street and Salters Vale, which will be closed as detailed below. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained under the control of site personnel, but only when safety permits. High Street – will be closed between the junctions of Bull Street and Trinity Way (31st March - 1st April 2025). Traffic will be diverted via Spon Lane, Kelvin Way, Trinity Way and vice versa. George Street & Overend Street – will both be closed at the junction with High Street (31st March - 1st April 2025). Local traffic diversion routes will be in operation.
High Street – will be closed between the junctions of Trinity Way and Bagnall Street (western side) 1st - 2nd April 2025. Traffic will be diverted via Trinity Way, Kenrick Way, M5 junction 1 roundabout, Birmingham Road and vice versa. Florence Road, Hope Street, Jesson Street, Salisbury Road, Thynne Street, Trinity Road North and Trinity Street – will all be closed at the junction with High Street (1st - 2nd April 2025). Local traffic diversion routes will be in operation. Birmingham Road – will be closed from the junction of Salisbury Road to the M5 junction 1 roundabout (2nd - 3rd April 2025). Traffic will be diverted via M5 junction 1 roundabout, Kenrick Way, Trinity Way, High Street and vice versa. Bagnall Street – will be closed at the junction of Birmingham Road/High Street (2nd - 3rd April 2025). The existing one-way operation of
Bagnall Street will be suspended (2nd - 3rd April 2025) and two-way operation introduced with access/egress via Beeches Road. Roebuck Lane – will be closed at the junction of Birmingham Road and High Street (2nd - 3rd April 2025). Traffic will be diverted via High Street, Salisbury Road, Devereux Road and vice versa.
Roebuck Street and Beeches Road – will both be closed at the junction with Birmingham Road (2nd - 3rd April 2025). The existing one-way operation of Roebuck Street will be suspended (2nd - 3rd April 2025) and two-way
operation introduced with controlled access/egress by site personnel from Roebuck Lane. Roebuck Lane – will be closed in its entirety from the junction of Birmingham Road/High Street (3rd - 4th April 2025). Traffic will be diverted via High Street, Salisbury Road, Devereux Road and vice versa. Salters Vale – will be closed at the junction of Roebuck Lane and access will be maintained, but only when safety permits and under the control from site operatives 3rd - 4th April 2025. The existing oneway operation of Robebuck Street will be suspended (3rd - 4th April 2025) and two-way operation introduced
with access/egress via Birmingham Road. Beeches Road – will be closed at the junction with Birmingham Road (4th - 5th April 2025). A diversion for westerly-bound traffic will be signed via Birmingham Road and Bagnall
Street. A diversion for easterly-bound traffic will be signed via Jesson Street, High Street and Birmingham Road. Europa Avenue and Mountbatten Close – will be closed at the junction of Beeches Road (4th - 5th April 2025).
Access will be maintained, but only when safety permits and under the control of site personnel. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 05/04/2025 effective from 31/03/2025
(7pm - 6am each evening morning). Purpose – to facilitate access to remove existing thermoplastic lining by hydro blasting and to lay new thermoplastic lining by McPhillips (Wellington) Ltd on behalf of Sandwell MBC.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Parsonage Street, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Parsonage Street, which will be closed from the junction of Popes Lane for approximately 35 metres. Access to any
affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). Traffic will be diverted via Popes Lane, Tat Bank Road and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 30/03/2025 (8am - 6pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for repair works by Severn Trent Water.
