M6 Motorway (Junction 35-33 Southbound & Junction 34 Entry Slip Road) - Temporary Restriction and Prohibition of Traffic

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -
SECTION 14
THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 3533 SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY AND
JUNCTION 34 ENTRY SLIP ROAD)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M6 Motorway, in the City of Lancaster, in the County of Lancashire, to enable barrier and drainage  works and other general maintenance; to be carried out in safety.

The Order will on the following sections of the M6 Motorway:

i.    impose a 50-mph speed limit on the southbound carriageway, from a point 1,502 metres south of the Main Road Bridge, to a point 222 metres south of the Ridge Lane Bridge;

ii.   ban all traffic from the southbound entry slip road at J34.

Restriction i. is expected to be in place during a continuous period, subject to traffic signs, starting at 06:00 on Monday 28 April 2025 and ending at 06:00 Monday 7 July 2025.

Prohibition ii. is expected to be in place overnight between 19:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Sunday 8 June 2025 and ending on Monday 9 June 2025.

Prohibition ii. is expected to be in place overnight between 19:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Sunday 2 July 2025 and ending on Monday 7 July 2025.

However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights, or during subsequent continuous periods, until completed.

Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M6 Motorway and local roads will be well signed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibition will not apply to emergency services, works or traffic officer vehicles. The restrictions and prohibition will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 27 April 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. For further information contact
