What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.8) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, on 17th March 2025 made the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 26th March 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Biscot Road from its junction with Dane Road to its junction with Lansdowne Road. Diversion route via Cromwell Road, New Bedford Road, Montrose Avenue. Alternatively, via Montrose Avenue, Woodland Avenue, Leagrave Road, Dunstable Road, Waldeck Road. Alternatively, via Waldeck, Road, Bury Park Road, Crawley Road, Telford Way, Hucklesby Way Roundabout, New Bedford Road, Montrose Avenue. Anticipated date and times of closure 26th March 2025 to 3rd April 2025 (excluding weekend), 8pm to 5am.
Dunstable Road from its junction with Kingsway to its junction with Medina Road. Diversion route via Chaul End Lane, Hatters Way, Dunstable Road, Birch Link. Anticipated date and times of closure 31st March 2025 to 5th April 2025, 8pm to 5am.
Leagrave High Street from its junction with Pastures Way its junction with Strangers Way. Diversion route via Poynters Road, Wheatfield Road Roundabout, Poynters Road, Dunstable Road, Oakley Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 3rd April 2025 to 8th April 2025 (excluding weekend), 8pm to 5am.
Dunstable Road from its junction with Telford Way Roundabout to its junction with Hazelbury Crescent. Diversion route via Telford Way Roundabout, Hatters Way, Chaul End Lane, Dunstable Road, Birch Link. Anticipated date and times of closure 7th April 2025 to 10th April 2025, 8pm to 5am.
High Street Leagrave from its junction with Strangers Way to its junction with Oakley Road. Diversion route via Oakley Road, Dunstable Road, Lewsey Road. Alternatively, via Leagrave High Street, Poynters Road, Dunstable Road, Oakley Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 9th April 2025 to 12 April 2025, 8pm to 5am.
Ash Road the whole length. Diversion route via Dunstable Road, Kingsway, Dallow Road, Granville Road, Clifton Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 14th April 2025 to 16th April 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Blaydon Road from its junction with Durham Road to its junction with Blaydon Road. Diversion route via Rutland Crescent, Devon Road. Alternatively, via Durham Road, Devon Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 16th April 2025 to 17th April 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Stanmore Crescent the whole length. No diversion route available. Anticipated date and times of closure 22nd April 2025 to 25th April 2025, 8am to 6pm.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic will be marked by signs.
