York, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 13 March 2025 in respect of the location numbered (1). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (2) & (3).

(1) GRANGE GARTH, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Grange Garth, York between its junction with New Walk Terrace and a location 46 metres south-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when power grid connection works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 17 March 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Wednesday, 19 March 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.

Additionally, all ‘on-street’ parking places situated on both sides of Grange Garth between its junction with New Walk Terrace and a location 46 metres south-west of said junction (suspension area) will be subject to suspension commencing at 0001 hours on Monday, 17 March 2025 and ending at 2359 hours on Wednesday, 26 March 2025 (suspension period).

An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Fulford Road, Grange Street.

(2) MAIN STREET, POPPLETON

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Main Street, Poppleton between the projected north-western boundaries of property no’s 4 and 12 (closed road) during the period when electrical works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Saturday, 22 March 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Sunday, 23 March 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier.

This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access for residents and to the Lord Nelson Pub will be maintained.

An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Ebor Way, Allerton Drive, Riversvale Drive.

(3) YORK STADIUM, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road around the western side of LNER Community Stadium, York between a location 55 metres west of the junction with Kathryn Avenue and a location 140 metres north-west of its junction with Martello Way (closed road) during the period when sports works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Friday, 21 March 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Monday, 21 September 2026 (events period) or at a time when the events have been completed whichever is the earlier.

This is to ensure that the said events can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed during sporting and entertainment events at York Stadium to ensure the safety of event attendees. The road will remain open at all other times. All road closures will be advertised on-street a minimum of 10 days in advance of any relevant events.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access, nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by ongoing works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
