What is happening?

Castle Street (D4015) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Castle Street (D4015) Guildford as extends from its junction with (D4015) Quarry Street to its junction with (X7040) Castle Street Access to 39 to 42. 

Alternative Route: Castle Street, South Hill, Warwicks Bench, Warwicks Bench Road, Echo Pit Road, Pilgrims Way, (A281) Shalford Road, and (A281) Quarry Street. 

This Order is required to facilitate essential gas works for, or on behalf of SGN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 5 days, between the hours of 8am and 4pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 07 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, via walk boards, if required. 

Due to the nature of the works, there will be no vehicular access through the closure, and all traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.


Dorking Road (A25) Gomshall Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Dorking Road (A25) Gomshall as extends from its junction with (X25) Wonham Way to its junction with (D263) Beggars Lane. 

Alternative Route: (1) A25 Station Road, A25 Shere Road, A25 Epsom Road, A246 Epsom Road, A246 Guildford Road, A246 Leatherhead Road, A246 Guildford Road, A246 Young Street, A24 Dorking Road, A24 London Road, A24 Mickleham By-Pass, A24 London Road, A24 Deepdene Avenue, A25 Reigate Road, A25 High Street, A25 South Street, A25 Vincent Lane, A25 Westcott Road, A25 Guildford Road, A25 Coast Hill, A25 Guildford Road, and A25 Dorking Road; (2) A25 Dorking Road, A25 Guildford Road, A25 Coast Hill, A25 Guildford Road, A25 Westcott Road, A25 High Street, A25 High Street, A25 Reigate Road, A24 Deepdene Avenue, A24 London Road, A24 Mickleham By-Pass, A24 London Road, A24 Dorking Road, A246 Young Street, A246 Guildford Road, A246 Leatherhead Road, A246 Guildford Road, A246 Epsom Road, A25 Shere Road, and A25 Station Road. 

This Order is required to facilitate mains water connection works for, or on behalf of Network Plus Services Ltd. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 nights, between the hours of 8pm and 6am, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 09 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.


Fir Tree Road to Woking Road Footpath (D4026) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any person from entering or proceeding on foot or by any other means in the entire length of Fir Tree Road to Woking Road Footpath (D4026) Guildford. 

Alternative Route: (1) Firtree Road, Cedar Way, Stoughton Road and Woking Road; (2) Bellfields Road, Woking Road, and Stoughton Road. 

This Order is required to facilitate upgrading of pedestrian crossing, resurfacing and signal crossing works, and/or any other maintenance works, for or on behalf of Winvic Construction Ltd. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible, as nightworks, between the hours of 10pm and 5am, during the 6-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 07 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to maintain access through the closure, and all traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access is affected by these closures.


Slyfield Green (D4027) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Slyfield Green (D4027) Guildford as extends from its junction with (D4027) Woodlands Road to its junction with (X7251) Lockside. 

Alternative Route: Old Farm Road, and Waterside Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate carriageway improvement works for, or on behalf of Winvic Construction Ltd. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 4 phases, between the hours of 7am and 6pm, within the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 07 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency service vehicles, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. 

The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.


Woking Road (A320) and (D4025) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic and Bus Lane Suspension Order (No.2) 2025 

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:

(a) temporarily prohibit traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice;

(b) Suspend the existing bus lane in that length of the southbound carriageway of Woking Road (A320) Guildford as extends from its junction with the roundabout situated at, or adjacent to, the junction of (A320) Woking Road and (D4023) Stoughton Road leading to its junction with (A25) Parkway imposed by “The County Council of Surrey Woking Road (A320) Guilford (Bus Lanes) (No.1) Order 2002”; and

(c) Suspend “The Surrey County Council Woking Road (A320) Guildford Temporary Bus Lane Suspension Order 2025” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in this Notice.

This Order is required to facilitate upgrading of the pedestrian crossing, bus lane construction, bus stop layby construction, resurfacing and signal crossing works, and/or any other associated works, for or on behalf of Winvic Construction Ltd. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible during the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 07 April 2025

For Part (1) of the Schedule to this Notice, these works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8am and 5pm. For Part (2) of the Schedule to this Notice, these works are anticipated to be night works, and carried out between the hours of 10pm and 5am,

For part (1): Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists. For part (2): Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to maintain access through the closure, and all vehicular traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access is affected by these closures.

(1) that length of Woking Road (D4026) Guildford as extends from its junction with (D4027) Mangles Road to its junction with the access to (S7418) Woking Road Depot.

Alternative Route: (a) (A320) Woking Road/Guildford Road/Egley Road, (A247) Wych Hill Lane/Kingfield Road/High Street/Broadmead Road/Send Road/Send Barns Lane/Clandon Road/The Street, (A25) Shere Road/Epsom Road/Boxgrove Road/Parkway, and (A320) Woking Road; (b) (A320) Woking Road, (A25) Parkway/Boxgrove Road/Epsom Road, (A247) The Street/Clandon Road/Send Barns Lane/Send Road/Broadmead Road/High Street/Kingfield Road/Wych Hill Lane, and (A320) Egley Road/Guildford Road/Woking Road.

(2) that length of Woking Road (A320) Guildford as extends from its roundabout with (D4027) Woodlands Road and (D4025) Hazel Avenue to its roundabout with (D4023) Stoughton Road and (D4025) Woking Road.

Alternative Route: (a) (A320) Woking Road/Guildford Road/Egley Road/Wych Hill Lane/Kingfield Road/High Street/Broadmead Road/Send Road/Send Barns Lane/Clandon Road/The Street/Shere Road/Epsom Road/Boxgrove Road/Parkway, and (A320) Woking Road; (b) (A320) Woking Road/Parkway/Boxgrove Road/Epsom Road, (A247) The Street/Clandon Road/Send Barns Lane/Send Road/Broadmead Road/High Street/Kingfield Road/Wych Hill Lane, and (A320) Egley Road/Guildford Road/Woking Road.


Service Road Fronting 155 to 171 Horton Road (D3208) Stanwell Moor Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Service Road Fronting 155 to 171 Horton Road (D3208) Stanwell Moor. 

This Order is required to facilitate utility works for, or on behalf of McFadden Utilities. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 days, between the hours of 9am and 5pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 07 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.


Tuesley Lane (D169) Godalming Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Tuesley Lane (D169) Godalming as extends from its junction with the access to the property known as “Godalming College” to its junction with (D5430) Heathfield Close. 

Alternative Route: Tuesley Lane, Park Road, Busbridge Lane, Quartermile Road, and Tuesley Lane, or this route in reverse. 

This Order is required to facilitate essential gas works for, or on behalf of SGN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 7 days, between the hours of 8am and 4pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 10 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for residents, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, via road plates, if required. 

All other traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route.


Various in Elmbridge Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.1) 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to:- 

(a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice; and 

(b) suspend the “Surrey county Council Various Roads in Oxshott, Cobham, and Leatherhead (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles) Order 2024” insofar as it relates to the prohibition of HGVs in Oaklawn Road and Oxshott Road only. 

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate carriageway surfacing and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 1 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. 

Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route.

Schedule
1. that length of the eastbound carriageway of A309 Kingston ByPass, Esher which extends from its junction with Manor Road North north-eastwards to its junction with the circulatory carriageway comprised within the roundabout situated at or adjacent to junctions of Kingston ByPass and Claygate Lane. Alternative Route – Scilly Isles roundabout, Esher High Street, Portsmouth Road, Between Streets, Stoke Road, Woodlands Lane, Oaklawn Road, Oxshott Road, A243 Leatherhead Road, Ace of Spades roundabout and A309 Kingston ByPass;

2. that length of B365 Seven Hills Road, Cobham/Walton-on-Thames which extends from its junction with Burwood Road to its junction with A245 Byfleet Road. Alternative Route 1 – B365 Seven Hills Road, C152 Burwood Road, A244 Esher Road, A244 Lammas Lane, A3009 Esher Green, A307 High Street, A307 Portsmouth Road, A245 Portsmouth Road and A245 Byfleet Road; Alternative Route 2 – A245 Byfleet Road, A245 Portsmouth Road, A307 Portsmouth Road, A307 High Street, A244 Church Street, A244 Lammas Lane, A244 Esher Road, C152 Burwood Road and B365 Seven Hills Road.

3. (a) that length of C158 Hare Lane, Claygate which extends from its junction Dalmore Avenue to its junction with High Street/Oaken Lane; (b) that length of D6827 Oaken Lane, Claygate which extends from its junction with Hare Lane/High Street northwards for a distance of 10 metres; (c) that length of C158 High Street, Claygate which extends from its junction with Hare Lane/Oaken Lane, south-eastwards for a distance of 10 metres. Alternative Route – D6827 Oaken Lane, D6821 Manor Road South, A309 Kingston By-Pass, A307 Portsmouth Road, A244 Claremont Lane and C158 Milbourne Lane;

Various in Runnymede Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.1) 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to:- 

(a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice; and

(a) that length of A320 Guildford Road, Chertsey as extends the entire length of the circulatory carriageway comprised within the roundabout situated at or adjacent to the junctions of A320 Guildford Road, D3030 Bittams Lane, D3030 Hillswood Drive and D3030 Guildford Road Access to St Peters Hospital; 

(b) that length of A320 Guildford Road, Chertsey as extends the north side of the roundabout junction with Bittams Lane/Hillswood Drive/Guildford Road Access to St Peters Hospital for a distance of 45m in a northerly direction; 

(c) that length of A320 Guildford Road, Chertysey, as extends the south side of the roundabout junction with Bittams Lane/Hillswood Drive/Guildford Road Access to St Peters Hospital for a distance of 45m in a southerly direction; 

(d) the entire length of D3030 Hillswood Drive, Chertsey (that length of which is public highway); 

(e) the entire length of D3030 Guildford Road Access to St Peters Hospital, Chertsey (that length of which is public highway); 

(f) that length of D3030 Bittams Lane, Chertsey as extends from its roundabout junction with A320 Guildford Road/ Hillswood Drive/Guildford Road Access to St Peters Hospital for a distance of 30m in an easterly direction.

Various in Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.1) 2025 

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice. 

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate footway slurry works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 1 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure and will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.

2. that length of (a) D230 Hoe Lane, Peaslake which extends from its junction with Pursers Lane to the southern property boundary line of Easter Cottage, 4 High Hoe Cottages; and (b) D230 Hoe Lane, Abinger Hammer which extends from the junction with B2126 Horsham Road to the western property boundary line of Quince Cottage. Alternative Route – B2126 Horsham Road, D280 Holmbury Hill Road, D276 Radnor Road,D222 Peaslake Lane, D222 Pursers Lane and D230 Hoe Lane;

3. the entire lgnth of D4009 Epsom Road, Guildford. Alternative Route – A25 Epsom Road, A25 Shere Road and D4009 Trodds Lane.


Various in Spelthorne Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.1) 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice. 

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate fine milling works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 4 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.

2. the entire length of D2688 Broadlands Avenue, Shepperton. Alternative Route – B3366 Green Lane, B376 High Street and D6288 Glebelands Gardens.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1) Public Footpath 31 (Claygate) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 10 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpath 31 (Claygate) which extends from its junction with Woodstock Lane South (Grid ref: 516912 164436) to the county boundary with The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames located east of the A3/Esher Bypass (Grid ref: 517153 164324).

The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to replacement works on the Lovelace Footbridge over the A3. The closure will be in operation overnight between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00 for 2 weeks starting from 13 March 2025 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

There is no alternative route.
