What is happening?

The Surrey County Council

C152 Molesey Road, Hersham Temporary Traffic Management Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to: 

1. Prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of the north-eastbound carriageway to C152 Molesey Road, Hersham that extends from the centre of its junction with the northern access road for “Hersham Place Technology Park” north-eastwards for a distance of 50m. 

2. Prohibit vehicles that are proceeding in an easterly direction on the northern access road for “Hersham Place Technology Park” from turning left into C152 Molesey Road, Hersham. 

This Traffic Order is required to enable Affinity Water to relay a long service pipe and/or carry out water mains repair and/or maintenance works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 9am and 4pm, within 2 days of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 05 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary banned turn and closure which are anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for emergency services, pedestrians and, dismounted equestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. 

Access for residents and businesses, will be maintained at all times via the alternative route:- Molesey Road, Queens Road and A317 Queensway.


C45 Combe Lane and A25 Shere Road, Shere Temporary Traffic Management Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:- 

1. Prohibit all traffic, including cyclists, equestrians and pedestrians from entering or proceeding in that length of C45 Combe Lane, Shere that extends from its junction with A25 Shere Road, to the southern side of its junction with the access for “Medlands Farm”. 

2. Impose a maximum speed limit of 30mph on that length of A25 Shere Road, Shere that extends from its junction with C45 Combe Lane, for a distance of 500m eastward and 500m westward. 

This Traffic Order is required by Road Traffic Solutions to enable GallifordTry to carry out water pipe installation and/or maintenance works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 7am and 7pm within 4 weeks of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 31 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure and speed limit which are anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

The speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 or in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the highway by or on behalf of the Police. 

Access for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times via Shere Road footway, Rights of Way route 143, Rights of Way route 142b and Combe Lane. 

Access for emergency services, residents and businesses will be maintained at all times to the point of works via the

alternative route:- Shere Road, Epsom Road and Staple Lane.


B367 Newark Lane and B367 Church Hill, Ripley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 12 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of B367 Newark Lane, and that length of B367 Church Hill, Ripley that extends from its junction with B367 Newark Lane, to its junction with D3744 Warren Lane. 

This Traffic Order is required to enable Power On and/or Rogers Civil Engineering to carry out directional drilling along Newark Lane to install fully ducted dual 11kV HV cable and/or to carry out service connections and/or installations and/or maintenance works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out in sections, between the hours of 8am and 6pm (Monday to Saturday), in phases within the 18 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 24 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures which are anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for pedestrians will be maintained at all times. Access for emergency services, residents, businesses, equestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times to the point of works via the alternative route :- Newark Lane, High Street, Portsmouth Road, Send Marsh Road, Send Road, Broadmead Road, High Street, Old Woking Road, Oakcroft Road, Coldharbour Road, Upshot Lane, Church Hill and Newark Lane.


(Various Roads in The Boroughs of Woking and Guildford) Surrey Half Marathon (Temporary Traffic Measures) Order 2025 

On 12 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order, pursuant to Sections 16A and 16B of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:- 

1. Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding along the lengths of roads specified in the First Schedule to this Notice and/or any parts therein, such restriction shall also apply in relation to the riding, leading or driving of horses or any other animals. 

2. Prohibit vehicles from stopping or remaining at rest, in the lengths of road specified in the Second Schedule to this Notice. 

The Order will come into effect on 16 March 2025, for a period of one day and is required to facilitate the holding of an on-road running event, namely the “Surrey Half-Marathon, 5k and Kids Race 2025”. 

The restrictions will not apply to such vehicles being used in connection with the said event, or to anything done on the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a traffic marshal, or any sign placed by Surrey Police. 

Emergency access will be maintained for the police, fire brigade and ambulance services and for organisations responsible for dealing with the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, water or electronic communications, to premises in the area and for the removal of any obstruction to traffic. 

The restriction on stopping in the lengths of road specified in the Second Schedule to this Notice shall also not apply to any vehicle required to stop by law or in order to prevent an accident, or a local bus to allow a person to board or alight from the vehicle at a designated bus stop, or for the purpose of opening/closing any gate or barrier at the entrance to premises to which the vehicle requires access. 

No exemption will apply for disabled persons’ vehicles and all parking places in the lengths of road specified in the Schedules below will be suspended. 

The prohibitions will only be operative while the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Access for pedestrians will be unaffected. It is anticipated that the prohibition of stopping will commence from 6am until 1pm, and the temporary closures will take effect from 8.30am until 1pm though roads will re-open earlier if it is safe to do so. 

The Council are satisfied that, in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the roads to which this Order relates, or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising, vehicular access to premises situated in such lengths of roads specified in the First Schedule to this Notice, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted, save for emergency access as indicated above and to care providers by prior arrangement and/or by CSAS marshals or by telephoning the Control Room on the day of the event. 

The Council are also satisfied, that the event to which the Order relates cannot be held otherwise than on a road. Such is the length of the route and the nature of the closure, the Council does not consider it practical to recommend alternative routes for the entire route however diversion signs will be placed for H.G.V.s, directing them via Clandon, Send, Old Woking and West Byfleet and light traffic will be directed on to the A322.

Brook Lane (D222) Albury Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 7 March 2025, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Brook Lane (D222) Albury which extends from the western boundary of the property known as “Faraway” to the eastern boundary of the property known as “Kyleakin”.

Alternative Route – Brook Lane, Brook Hill, Park Road and Little London, or this route in reverse.

The Order is required to allow Thames Water to facilitate works to install a water supply and all associated works which is anticipated to be completed within 2 weeks, between 8:00am and 5:00pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 24 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for emergency services, residents, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.


Kings Road (D5520) Haslemere Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 7 March 2025, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Kings Road (D5520) Haslemere between the western border of the property known as “27 Kings Road” and its junction with Wey Hill (B2131). 

Alternative Route: B2131 (Wey Hill and Liphook Road), A287 (Sturt Road) and Kings Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to enable Thames Water to facilitate valve installation works and all associated works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 2 days, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 24 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for emergency vehicles, residents, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.


Langham Place (D3142) Egham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 7 March 2025, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Langham Place (D3142) Egham. 

There is no alternative route for this closure.

The Order is required to allow Affinity Water to carry out water connection works and all associated works which is anticipated to be completed within 1 day, between 9:30am and 4:00pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 25 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency vehicles, residents within the closure, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.


Coverts Road (D6847) Claygate Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 12 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Coverts Road (D6847) Claygate as extends from a point in line with the common boundary between No.112 and No.114 Coverts Road to a point in line with the common boundary between No.120 and No.122 Coverts Road. 

Alternative Route: Coverts Road, and Foxwarren, or this route in reverse. 

This Order is required to facilitate gas mains replacement/connection works for, or on behalf of SGN. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 29 days, between the hours of 8am and 4pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 24 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency services, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. 

The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.

Little Street (D4023) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 12 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of the cul-de-sac arm of Little Street (D4023) Guildford (including the turning circle) that serves the properties No.08 to No.12. 

This Order is required to facilitate water utility works for, or on behalf of Thames Water. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 days, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 25 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists. There is no alternative route for this closure.

C42 Downside Road, Cobham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 12 March 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to:- (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of C42 Downside Road, Cobham which extends from Downside Bridge to its junction with Cobham Park Road; and (b) suspend the Order imposing a HGV prohibition on A244 Oxshott Road and C131 Oaklawn Road. 

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate footway slurry works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 21 March 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure and suspension of the Order will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. 

Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route. 

Alternative Route – C42 Downside Road, C42 Horsley Road, C43 Howard Road, C43 Effingham Common Road, A246 Guildford Road, A246 Leatherhead Road, A246 Young Street, A24 By-Pass Leatherhead, A244 Oxshott Road, C131 Oaklawn Road, A245 Woodlands Road, A245 Stoke Road, A245 Mill Road, A245 High Street, A245 Between Streets, C42 Downside Bridge Road and C42 Downside Road.


Old Heath Road (D3887) Weybridge Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to: 1. prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding that length of Old Heath Road (D3887) Weybridge as extends from outside the property known as “Hand and Spear” public house to its junction with College Way (X5299); and 2. to prohibit any vehicle from making a (a) left turn into College Way (X5299) from Heath Road (B374) northbound and (b) a right turn into Heath Road (B374) southbound from College Way (X5299) .

Alternative route for closure – Old Heath Road and Heath Road, or this route in reverse.

The Order is required to allow Houlihan and Co (Excavations) Ltd to carry out junction improvement works and all associated works which is anticipated to be completed within 16 days, between 8:00am and 6:00pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 10 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closures, which are anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians, equestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.


Avondale Avenue (D3297) and Wheatsheaf Lane (D3299) Staines-Upon-Thames Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding along that length of that length of: (a) Avondale Avenue (D3297) Staines-Upon-Thames as extends from its junction with Wheatsheaf Lane (D3299) to a point 22 metres south; and (b) Wheatsheaf Lane (D3299) Staines-Upon-Thames as extends from its junction with Avondale Avenue (D3297) to a point 25 metres west.

Alternative Route – for Avondale Road closure is Wheatsheaf Lane, B376 (Laleham Road, Penton Road, Penton Avenue, River Road and Avondale Avenue. 

For Wheatsheaf Lane closure is Avondale Avenue, Ruskin Road, B376 (Laleham Road) and Penton Road.

The Order is required to allow Affinity Water to carry out water chamber works and all associated works which is anticipated to be completed within 2 days, between 8:00am and 4:00pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 7 April 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closures, which are anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency vehicles, residents within the closure, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.


The Street (D123) Frensham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of The Street (D123) Frensham between the access into the property known as “Lane End” and the access into the property known as “The Vicarage”. 

Alternative Route: The Street, Mill Lane, Pitt Lane, Shortfield Common Road, A287 (Frensham Road) and The Street, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to enable Cappagh Contractors to facilitate sewer repair works and all associated works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 6 days, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 7 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.


Thorpe Lea Road (B3376) Egham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Thorpe Lea Road (B3376) Egham as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (B3376) New Wickham Lane to its junction with the north-eastern access to the property known as Glenville Farm. 

Alternative Route – New Wickham Lane; Vicarage Road; Pooley Green Road; and Thorpe Lea Road or this same route in reverse. 

This Order is required to allow s278 works and/or utility connection works and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of Houlihan & Co (Excavations) Ltd within the length of road described in this notice. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible over seventeen days between the hours of 8am and 6pm within the 12-month period of operation of the Temporary Order that commences on 05 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for the emergency services in an emergency situation only. All other traffic including residents will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.


Russell Road (D3802) and Cottimore Lane (D3814) Walton-On-Thames Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14)7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to (1) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this Notice; and (2) suspend “Surrey County Council D3814 Cottimore Lane, Walton-on-Thames Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2024” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in part (b) of the Schedule to this Notice. 

The Order is required to allow mains gas replacement works and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of SGN within the lengths of road described in this Notice. 

This Order, which will commence on 06 April 2024 for a period of 12 months is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, to be carried out by or on behalf of SGN, including but not limited to: mains gas replacement works and/or any other associated works. 

In the Schedule to this notice the works in part (a) are anticipated to be carried out over 16 days commencing on 06 April 2025 the works in part (b) are anticipated to be carried out over 6 weeks commencing on 07 April 2025; and will be done in five phases. 

Phase 1 will be from its junction with (A3050) Terrace Road to its junction with (D3814) Lancaster Court; phase 2 will be from its junction with (D3814) Lancaster Court to its junction with (D3814) Kingsbridge Road; phase 3 will be from its junction with (D3814) Kingsbridge Road to its junction with (D3814) Cottimore Terrace; phase 4 will be from its junction with (D3814) Cottimore Terrace to its junction with (D3815) Carlton Road and phase 5 will be from its junction with (D3815) Carlton Road to its junction with (D3818) Florence Road. All Works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8am and 5pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures, which are anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works there will be no vehicular access through the works area’s and all vehicular traffic including residents and the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion routes. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising

Schedule
(a) that length of Russell Road (D3802) Walton-On-Thames as extends from its junction with (A3050) Terrace Road north-westwards for a distance of 20 metres. Alternative Route – A3050 Terrace Road; Sunbury Lane; Franklin Road; and Russell Road or this same route in reverse; and (b) that length of Cottimore Lane (D3814) Walton-On-Thames as extends from its junction with (A3050) Terrace Road to its junction with (D3818) Florence Road. Alternative Route – A3050 Terrace Road; Sidney Road; Stuart Avenue; and Cottimore Lane or this same route in reverse.


Various Roads in Shalford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in those lengths of road specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice. 

This Order, which will commence on 01 April 2025 for a period of 18 months is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, to be carried out by or on behalf of Surrey County Council, including but not limited to: highways improvement works and/or gulley works and/or highway maintenance works. 

Works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Saturday. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed; and the temporary closures will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route. During certain phases of the works, vehicular access to premises may be restricted, when this is the case such restriction of access will apply for no more than eight hours within any 24-hour period.

(a) that length of Orchard Road (D206) Shalford as extends from its junction with (A281) The Street eastwards for a distance of 31 metres. Alternative Route – A281 The Street; Tillingbourne Road; and Orchard Road; (b) that length of East Shalford Lane (D205) Shalford as extends from its junction with (A281) The Street north-eastwards for a distance or 21 metres. 

Alternative Route – A281 The Street; Pilgrims Way; Tilehouse Road; and Shalford Lane; and (c) that length of Tillingbourne Road (D206) Shalford as extends from its junction with (A281) The Street eastwards for a distance of 20 metres. Alternative Route – A281 The Street; Orchard Road; and Tillingbourne Road.


Eashing Lane (D94) Godalming Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Eashing Lane (D94) Godalming which extends from the southeastern property boundary line of “Little Eashing” to its junction with Halfway Lane (X94).

Alternative Route – Eashing Lane (D94), Guildford Road (A283), Portsmouth Road (A3100) and Eashing Lane (D94) or the same route in reverse.

This Order is required to allow BT Openreach to carry out telecom works, which is anticipated to be completed within 1 day, between 9:30am and 3:30pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 06 April 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for emergency vehicles, residents, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. 

All other vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route.
