Derby City Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to prohibit use of the road by traffic.

Temporary 30mph Speed Reduction Order On Brian Clough Way, Derby
WHEN: 30 March 2025 (06.00 to 10.00) 

WHERE: Brian Clough Way (A52) Northbound, lane closure and 30mph speed reduction – 160 metres from Highfield Lane footbridge to Off-slip to Wyvern Way. Approximately 480 metres. 

REASON: Water works 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Not Applicable.


Temporary One Way Road Closure Order On Edward Street, Derby

WHEN: 02 April 2025 to 04 April 2025 

WHERE: Edward Street, inbound closure from its junction with Duffield Road to its junction with Henry Street. 

REASON: Electrical works 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Duffield Road – Belper Road – Milford Street – Arthur Street – Edward Street.


Temporary Footpath Closure Order On Grove Street Car Park Footpath, Derby

WHEN: 31 March 2025 to 07 April 2025 

WHERE: Close footpath from Normanton Road, adjacent Church – linking Normanton Road to Alder Walk. 

REASON: Electrical works 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Normanton Road – Grove Street – Alder Walk and the same in the opposite direction.


Temporary Road Closure Order On Corden Street, Derby

WHEN: 06 April 2025

WHERE: Corden Street, at its junction with Pear Tree Road. 

REASON: Water works 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Pear Tree Road – Dairy House Road – Malcolm Street - Rose Hill Street – Holmes Street – Whiston Street-Oak Street – Corden Street.

WHERE: Northmead Drive, suspend approximately 10 metres of parking bays opposite NHS car parking Entrance – back of properties No 1 to 10.

WHEN: 13 April 2025 to 18 April 2025 (20.00 to 05.00 Daily Overnight Only)

WHEN: 13 April 2025 to 18 April 2025 (Daily: 20:00 to 05:00) Overnight Only 

WHERE: Derwent Street, from its junction with Corporation Street and Full Street roundabout to its junction with Exeter Place. 

REASON: Construction work 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Exeter Place – Exeter Street – Derwent Street – St Alkmunds Way (A601) – Ford Street (A601) – Stafford Street – Mercian Way – Lara Croft Way – Bradshaw Way – Traffic Street – Morledge Derby City Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to prohibit use of the roads by traffic.

WHEN: 24 March to 26 March 2025 

WHERE: Etwall Street at its junction with Old Uttoxeter New Road Road, a distance of approximately 15 metres. 

REASON: Waterworks installation 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Uttoxeter Old Road – Findern Street – Etwall Street and the same in the opposite direction


Temporary Road Closure Order On Fairway Crescent, Derby

WHEN: 03 March 2025 14 March 2025 

WHERE: Fairway Crescent, from its junction Fairway Close to No 66. a distance of approximately 30 metres. 

REASON: Water works 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Fairway Crescent – Oakover Drive – Allestree Lane – Lawn Avenue and the same in the opposite direction.


Temporary Road Closure Order On Finsbury Avenue, Derby 

WHEN: 19 March 2025 

WHERE: Finsbury Avenue, from its junction Hounslow Road to No 44. a distance of approximately 20 metres. 

REASON: Water works 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Hounslow Road – Brentford Drive – Walthamstow Drive – Finsbury Avenue and the same in the opposite direction. 


Temporary Road Closure Order On Mornington Crescent, Derby

WHEN: 19 March 2025 

WHERE: Mornington Crescent, 10 metres at No 20. 

REASON: Water works 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Mornington Crescent – Prince Charles Avenue and the same in the opposite direction. 


Temporary Road Closure Order On Francis Street, Derby 

WHEN: 17 March 2025 to 19 March 2025 

WHERE: Francis Street, at its junction St Marks Road. 

REASON: Water works ALTERNATIVE

ROUTE: Francis Street – Beaufort Street – Nottingham Road – St Marks Road and the same in the opposite direction.


Temporary Road Closure Order On Abbey Street, Derby

WHEN: 17 March 2025 to 19 March 2025 

WHERE: Abbey Street, from its junction with Macklin Street for a distance of approximately 40 metres towards Mercian Way. 

REASON: Water works

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Abbey Street – Curzon Street – Mercian Way – Circumnavigate Burton Road Island – Mercian Way – Abbey Street And Abbey Street – Mercian Way – Curzon Street – Abbey Street
