What is happening?

THE BARNET (FREE PARKING PLACES, LOADING PLACES, WAITING, LOADING AND STOPPING RESTRICTIONS) (AMENDMENT NO. 360) ORDER 2025

THE BARNET (CHARGED-FOR PARKING PLACES) (AMENDMENT NO. 168) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Barnet has on 13th March 2025 made the above-mentioned Orders under Sections 6, 45, 46, 49, 51 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.

As part of the agreed Barnet Homes/The Barnet Group planning permission for redevelopment works currently taking place on Little Strand NW9, the general effect of the above Orders would be to revoke the existing ‘CL2’ Colindale permit parking area on Little Strand NW9 operating between the hours of 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday and to introduce the following measures listed below:

Proposed parking layout changes

The proposed parking changes for Little Strand and a section of Great Strand are as follows:

  • 44 Nos. ‘CL2’ Colindale resident permit holders only parking bays operating between the hours of 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
  • 5 Nos. new disabled permit holders only parking bays operating ‘At any time’.
  • 11 Nos. shared use electric vehicle charging/‘CL2’ resident permit holders only parking bays operating between the hours of 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
  • Lengths of ‘No waiting’ ‘At Any time’ restriction (double yellow lines) would be introduced on Little Strand in order to prevent obstruction and to maintain traffic flow.
  • Lengths of ‘No loading’ at any time restrictions will be introduced alongside the existing emergency access gate in the vicinity of Desoutter House.

Resident parking permit eligibility

The proposed resident parking permit eligibility for the Little Strand and a section of Great Strand are as follows:

As part of the redevelopment agreement, the following addresses listed under the new buildings currently under construction listed below will be eligible to apply for only one Colindale ‘CL2’ resident parking permit per household:

Little Strand, NW9

  • Odd Nos. only 1, 3, 5, 7
  • Even Nos. only 2 to 16

Great Strand, NW9

  • Flats No. 1 to 5 Dalgety Court at any level

The existing addresses listed below which are not currently being redeveloped will still be entitled to purchase a maximum of 4 Nos. Colindale ‘CL2’ resident parking permits per household.

Little Strand NW9

  • Nos. 1 to 8 Carberry, Little Strand NW9
  • No. 9 Caudron, Little Strand NW9
  • Nos. 1 to 3 Desoutter, Little Strand NW9
  • No. 4 Desoutter, First Floor Room Front, Little Strand NW9
  • Second Floor Room Rear, Little Strand NW9
  • First Floor Room Rear, Little Strand NW9
  • Second Floor Room Front, Little Strand NW9
  • Nos. 5 to 12 Desoutter, Little Strand NW9
  • Nos. 1 to 13 Douglas, Little Strand NW9
  • Nos. 1 to 7 Dyott, Little Strand NW9
  • Nos. 1 to 6 Everett, Little Strand NW9
  • Nos. 1 to 8 Farnan, Little Strand NW9
  • Nos. 1 to 18 Firefly, Little Strand NW9

A copy of the Orders, which will come into operation on Friday 14th March 2025 and the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the Orders can be obtained, for a period of 6 weeks from the date on which they were made, by emailing parking.consultations@barnet.gov.uk or by writing to the Design Team, Highways Section, 6th Floor, 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London NW9 4EW.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders or any of their provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any relevant requirement thereof or any regulations made there under had not been complied with in relation to the Orders, may within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
