What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF BARNET

THE BARNET (20MPH SPEED LIMIT) (NO. 1) TRAFFIC ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Barnet has made on 13 March 2025, the above-mentioned Order under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. As part of a variety of measures proposed to address vehicular conflicts, concerns about speeding, and improve general road safety in the Mill Hill area, the general effect of the Orders will be to introduce a maximum speed limit of 20mph in the length of streets specified below:

(a) The Ridgeway NW7 - between its junction with Holcombe Hill and it's junction with Engel Park and Bittacy Hill.

(b) Hammers Lane NW7 - between its junction with The Ridgeway and a point outside Orchard Terrace, Hammers Lane.

(c) High Street NW7 - entire length

(d) Milespit Hill NW7 - between its junction with The Ridgeway and a point outside The Mount School, The Ridgeway NW7.

(e) Burtonhole Lane NW7 - All lengths of Burtonhole Lane between junctions of The Ridgeway and Hillview Road.

A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on Thursday 13th March 2025 and the Council's Statement of Reasons for making the Order can be obtained, for a period of 6 weeks from the date on which this notice is published, by emailing parking.consultations@barnet.gov.uk or by writing to the Design Team, Highways Section, 3rd Floor, 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London NW9 4EW.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or any regulations made there under have not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
