What is happening?

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The East Sussex (Public Footpath Withyham 57C) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025

To protect public safety following a collapse of the riverbank, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpath:

Temporary Footpath Closure

The whole of Public Footpath Withyham 57c will be closed between Willets Farm (TQ 5059 3989) and Watch Oak Hill (TQ 5047 3895). Unfortunately, there is no alternative route.

The Order is made following the issuing of a Temporary Notice under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Act 1984, as amended.

The closure will be in force for 6 months from 20 March 2025, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpath still be unavailable to use.

The East Sussex (C470 Priory Road, Forest Row) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Priory Road – from the junction with A22 London Road to the junction with C2 Hindleap Lane. 

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C2 Hindleap Lane – A22 Lewes Road, London Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 17 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. 

However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 17 and 28 March 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A267 Mayfield Road, Frant) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Mayfield Road – from the junction with U7543 Danegate to the junction with C81 The Green.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties

maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A267 Frant Green Road, Frant Road – C70 Bunny Lane – A26 Eridge Road, Beacon Road, Uckfield Road, Five Ash Down, Mill Pond Road – A272 Budletts Lane, Station Road, High Street, Pound Green, Main Road, Summer Hill – A267 Mayfield Road, Wellbrook Hill, Mayfield bypass, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill, Tunbridge Wells Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 17 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 17 March and 19 April 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A267 Frant Road/Frant Green Road, Frant) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Frant Road/Frant Green Road – from the junction with C70 Bunny Lane to the junction with C81 The Green.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C70 Bunny Lane – A26 Eridge Road, Beacon Road, Uckfield Road, Five Ash Down, Mill Pond Road – A272 Budletts Lane, Station Road, High Street, Pound Green, Main Road, Summer Hill – A267 Mayfield Road, Wellbrook Hill, Mayfield bypass, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill, Mayfield Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 17 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 17 and 26 March 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6189 Vineyard Lane, Ticehurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Vineyard Lane – from the junction with B2099 High Street to the junction with U6192 Burnt Lodge Lane. 

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2099 High Street – U6192 Burnt Lodge Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 1 April 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. 

However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 3 April 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C539 Three Oaks Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Three Oaks Lane – from the junction with C539 Turners Green to the junction with B2099 Station Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2099 Station Hill, Station Road, Durgates – B2100 Sparrows Green Road – C272 South View Road – C539 Turners Green and vice versa. 

The Order commences 31 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 31 March and 1 April 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7542 Tapsells Lane/C271 Faircrouch Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road; 

Temporary Road Closures
Tapsells Lane – from the junction with B2099 Station Road to the junction with C271 Faircrouch Lane.

Faircrouch Lane – from the junction with U7542 Tapsells Lane to the junction with B2099 Station Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2099 Station Hill, Station Road – B2100 Mayfield Lane, Best Beech Hill – C271 Fairglen Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 31 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 31 March and 9 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.
