Essex - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Speed Restrictions

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Footpath 21, Burnham-On-Crouch)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the Footpath 21, Burnham-On-Crouch in the District of Maldon from its junction with Footpath 11 south, then southeast for approximately 29 metres.

Footpath 11 will be narrowed by Heras fence to provide safe pedestrian access past works area. Existing access from Footpath 11 onto Belvedere Road to be maintained.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 24 March 2025 to 01 August 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while the refurbishment of the flood defence embankment is undertaken.

Alternative route: will be via Belvedere Road, Footpath 21 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 24 March 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Fambridge Road, Purleigh)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Fambridge Road, Purleigh in the District of Maldon, from its junction with Barons Lane for a distance of approximately 765m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th April 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC117000000000307583DN01 - Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Fambridge Road, Barons Lane, Chelmsford Road, Burnham Road, Oak Corner, Southend Road, Maldon Road - B1418, Hyde Lane, White Elm Road, Main Road, Burnham Road, Saltcoats Roundabout, Woodham Road, Lower Burnham Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 20th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Maldon Road, Tolleshunt D'arcy)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Maldon Road, Tolleshunt D'arcy in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 100m south west of its junction with Beckingham Road for a distance of approximately 130m in a south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th April 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008PLT2489055123032024 - Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Maldon Road, Goldhanger Road, Colchester Road, Broad Street Green Road, Maldon Road, Colchester Road, Church Road, Factory Hill, D'arcy Road, Oxley Hill, Kelvedon Road, South Street, Church Street and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 20th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Oak Farm Road, Woodham Walter)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Oak Farm Road, Woodham Walter in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 35m north east of its junction with Old London Road for a distance of approximately 85m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN014M133722 - Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while reinstatement works are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.

An alternative route is available via Oak Farm Road, Old London Road, Herbage Park Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 20th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, District of Maldon)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway)

Order (No.6) 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of road in the District of Maldon as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. A temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway as per the schedule for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the restriction will be in force.

"The Essex County Council (Maldon District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time' restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 20th March 2025, exact dates will be specified on one.network. The road will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

Description: From its junction with Fambridge Road Roundabout to its junction with Fambridge Road a distance of approximately 895m.

Alternative Route: Fambridge Road, Burnham Road, Main Road, Mundon Road and vice versa.

(Butt Lane, Maldon)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Suspension of One Way)

Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of Butt Lane, Maldon in the District of Maldon, from its junction with High Street to its junction with Victoria Road a distance of approximately 130m.

2. To temporarily suspend the one-way restriction in that length of Butt Lane, Maldon in the District of Maldon from its junction with High Street to its junction with Victoria Road as detailed in The County Council of Essex (Butt Lane, Maldon) (One-Way Traffic) Order 1969' for the duration of the above closure only.

The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 26th March 2025 for 14 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001389719 - Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/ suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas main replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Butt Lane, Victoria Road, High Street and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 6th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Main Road, St Lawrence)

(Temporary Introduction of a 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 40mph speed restriction on Main Road, St Lawrence in the District of Maldon, from its junction with Bradwell Road to its junction with Anchorage View a distance of approximately 1140m. The restriction is scheduled to continue from 6th March 2025 for 16 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN013301224 - Essex and Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains renewal and service connection works are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.

The Order came into effect on 6th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
