Caterham Valley - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic For Maintenance Works

What is happening?

The Surrey County Council

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1) Public Bridleway 121 (Caterham Valley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 21 March 2025 Surrey County Council will make the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Bridleway 121 crossing the bridge over the A22 Caterham By-pass.

The Order is necessary by reason of danger to the public, due to essential maintenance works being carried out on the bridge crossing the A22.

The closure will be in operation for a period of six months 24 March 2025 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

There is no suggested alternative route.

The Surrey County Council Public Bridleway 121 (Caterham Valley) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
