NOTICE OF PROPOSALS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Oxford City Council (the Council) proposes to make the above-mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended ("the Act") and the Local Authorities Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996 (SI 1996/2489) and all other enabling powers.

The general effect of the Orders would be:

  1. to revoke and replace the City of Oxford (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2011.
  2. the inclusion of additional car parks to the Schedules to those Orders to be designated as new off-street parking places.

The proposed Orders will reinstate these provisions that are contained in the City of Oxford Off-Street Parking Places Order 2011 and re-enact those provisions without any change of substance and in particular those provisions concerning enforcement of:

  • the operation of the car parks; and
  • payment of charges and other conditions.

The Council proposes:

a) to make City of Oxford (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2011 TRO-06;

b) to make:

  • the OXFORD CITY COUNCIL (OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES) (CITY CENTRE) ORDER No.1 2025,
  • the OXFORD CITY COUNCIL (OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES) (URBAN) ORDER No.1 2025,
  • and the OXFORD CITY COUNCIL (OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES) (SUBURBAN AND PARKS) ORDER No.1 2025

c) to include the car parks at Headington Hill, Bury Knowle and Rose Hill Community Centre as off-street parking places to the Schedules to these Orders.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the draft Orders which may be seen, together with a copy of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Orders at the Council's main office at Town Hall, St. Aldates, Oxford, OX1 1BX between the hours of 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays and public holidays). The documents may also be viewed on the Council’s website at www.oxford.gov.uk.

Any objections or other representations relating to the proposed Orders must be made in writing and should be sent to Oxford City Council, Parking Service, PO Box 10, Oxford, OX1 1EN by emailing transport@oxford.gov.uk no later than 17:00hrs on 4th April 2025. All objections or other representations must specify the grounds for their objection.
