What is happening?

(WOODSTOCK, LONG HANBOROUGH & CHARLBURY, VARIOUS ROADS) (MAP BASED) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND PERMITTED PARKING) (VARIATION No. 10) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that on 10 March 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The order, which comes into force on 17 March introduces changes to parking restrictions as part of a review of the scheme for Woodstock.
The new measures introduce:
Amendment to Waiting Restrictions: Double Yellow Lines reduced in front of the vehicular access to No. 24 Market Street for a distance of 6 metres. All other restrictions in Market Street remain unaffected.
Introduction of Waiting Prohibition: Double Yellow Lines as follows:
- Cockpit Close: north side – from the junction with Rectory Lane to a point opposite the western building line of No. 27.
- Cockpit Close: south side – in front of Property Nos. 1, 2, 13, & 26-27.
- Rectory Lane: east side – from the junction with Rectory Lane to a point in line with the northern building line of Property No.1.
- Park Street: south side – at the junction to the football club, opposite No. 30.
- Parking Places:
- A) Changes to Permit Holder only parking 8am - 6pm (WS) to paid parking bays (PAY AND DISPLAY) where charges will apply – 8am to 6pm, Max Stay up to 4 hours (no return within 1 hour).
- Woodstock (WS) residents permit holders are exempt from charges and time limits.
- Introduction of New Parking Places:
- Additional parking bays in Cockpit Close, sited on the south side adjacent to Nos. 2, 3-4, & 10-25.5. All marked disabled parking places remain unaffected.
- The manner of parking likely may be marked by the insertion of a line or a parking ticket in a nearby ticket machine. Machine produced tickets will be displayed on a vehicle.
- ‘Virtual Parking Tickets’ may be obtained online via the ‘App’ without the need for a machine which will be accessible in nearby streets. Residents who have been issued a Residents’ Permit pay the Woodstock (WS) time limit or charge in all Residents’ permit bays.

- Applies to the southern side of New Road adjacent to existing marked bays with a length of 20 metres.
- Eligible properties:
- Applicants who meet the criteria may be able to apply for annual WS residents permits to include 124 New Road.
- WS will be further Marked to include No.124 New Road.
- WS residents parking scheme will remain as existing.
- Visitors permits:
- Will be available for residents at the eligible addresses, usually a maximum of 50 days’ worth of permits will be issued per year and provided in blocks of 25. A temporary resident will be entitled to 25 visitors permits.
- Charges:
- For residents, per permit will be £65 per annum. Visitors’ permits for residents aged 70 or over will be free of charge. For other residents the first block of 25 visitors’ permits will be £25 and the second block will be £31.50.
- Contractors may apply for a permit to use a parking place at a charge of £31.50 for any period not exceeding a week.
- Other Matters:
- A permit may be withdrawn if found to be granted based on false information, or a permit has not been used in accordance with the provisions of the Order or where it is abused. This may result in suspension of eligibility for further permits.
Exemptions to the waiting restrictions and the restrictions of loading and unloading will include:
- Disabled badge holders (maximum of three hours where there are no waiting restrictions in force).
- Carers with permits for loading and unloading.
- Emergency service vehicles, funeral vehicles and vehicles being used in connection with road works and in the statutory services and other essential works.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Woodstock and Long Hanborough, Various Roads) (Map Based) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Permitted Parking) Order 2023 is amended, and the measures specified in Map Tiles D052 & D053 in the process.

If you wish to question the validity of this Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of this Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to this Order, you may within six weeks from 10 March 2025 apply to the High Court for the purpose.
